Wholesale Divisional Overview:

Banking division (ECM, DCM, M&A). Wholesale division operates across all four regions Japan, Asia,
Europe and Americas and is a globally integrated franchise. Nomura is one of the leading global
investment banks and the only global Asian investment bank. The acquisition of Lehman Brothers
Europe and Asia in 2008 significantly increased the scale of the business and is complemented by an
organic build out in Americas.

Investment Banking Divisional Overview:

Investment Banking provides a full product offering to corporate, sponsor, financial institutions and
government / supranational clients. The division operates across targeted sectors to deliver strategic
advice, financing and derivative solutions to its clients. The business offers traditional products such as
M&A Advisory, Acquisition and Leveraged Finance, Debt and Equity Capital Markets and non-traditional
/ solutions products such as Risk Solutions, Insurance Solutions, Equity Solutions etc.

Business Unit Overview:

Strategy team is piv -term strategy for Wholesale. The work of the

model, market entry strategy, acquisition screening and industry & competitor analysis. The team works
directly with senior management across the businesses and regions to determine the optimal strategy

Role & Responsibilities:


Work as a part of the Wholesale Strategy division on global, regional and divisional
projects with a focus on Investment Banking
Prepare presentations for senior management board meetings, investor day, off-sites,
town halls
Support management / business on strategic projects (e.g. identifying opportunities in
new areas of growth, developing medium-term business strategy and planning,
acquisition screening / evaluation for inorganic opportunities, etc.)
Strategic assessment of underperforming businesses and development of scenarios /
recommendations for business heads
Conduct analysis of the competitive and general macro / market environment for
senior management presentations. Develop market sizing / revenue pool models

performance analysis, changes in business environment and key themes impacting


the earnings
Most of the projects require working closely with strategy team members, business
CAOs, finance and other functional teams in different regions; working independently
or with the support of another member of the team
The role provides wide exposure into Investment Banking industry across traditional
banking (ECM, DCM, M&A, ALF) and non-traditional banking (Risk Solutions,
Insurance Solutions, Equity Solutions etc.) as well as exposure to other Wholesale
businesses
