Dear Reed,
I am confident I will be an excellent fit for Netflix’s Chief Innovation Officer position. I
have proven success in product innovation, entrepreneurship, and product
development in video technology over the past 15 years. I am seeking to leverage
my data-driven software development and innovation abilities in a new and
challenging role.
I am known for stakeholder management. I have always strived to put a lot of focus
on identifying my stakeholders across various levels of the organization which
enables me to identify areas of innovation and growth.
I actively identify key areas for innovative transformation, develop plans according to
varying timelines, and manage these processes by aligning innovation goals with the
company's broader business objectives.
I have also been part of multiple industry S-Curves and organization spin offs which
prepared me to be dynamic and align myself to the changing organizational
dynamics.
● Setup an ideation event every quarter which gathered innovative ideas from
associates. Top 5 innovative ideas were funded. 5 Digital products were
created with this and generated $100M additional revenue
● Established Innovation CoE which cuts across different functions like HR,
Sales, Marketing, Production and external markets to identify potential
innovation ideas. This team helped created 10 new product offerings which
increased YoY by $1B
● Led the implementation of Data & Analytics platform which helped identify
$1.3B worth new sale opportunities out of which $20M orders were generated
in 2 quarters in 2020
● Built a conversational and transactional AI Bot for the banking sector which
not only allows users to get their queries answered but also perform some
critical transactions like paying bills, transferring money, doing a deposit. This
digital transformation done for the company has reduced the turn around time
for financial transactions by 70%, allowed to deploy 30% of workforce to other
critical functions.
In my current role as Innovation Manager for Cognizant, I manage product
innovation for our customer facing products delivered by Cognizant studio. I work
closely with product management, engineering, and executive leadership to run a
start-up culture within the organization which helps us ideate, prioritize, and execute
novel/innovative product designs/features with usability and customer needs as the
central theme. I have always been known as a people’s leader who collaborates
across the different functions of the organization. This has not only enabled me to
reach out to key department heads and customers to build a
I sponsor and run ideathons which are a constant source of ideas which would get
prioritized into the product features based on customer preferences, market
opportunities and emerging trends. My industry connects and collaborations enable
me to be abreast with the latest technological trends and evolving business
scenarios.
I work closely with the start-up ecosystem and have forged tie ups with top university
professors with whom I constantly work to understand the evolving technology and
business arena. This is a rich source of information which help me think innovatively.
Innovation is a cultural shift in the organization, and it needs a big change agent
mindset. I have been successfully driving the teams at cognizant to make innovation
part of the work. I was able to successfully influence the R&D team, product
management, senior executive teams to use design thinking approach to try out new
ideas.
I believe in continuous learning and have enrolled myself in Premier B-School IIM
Kozhikode’s Strategic Management program which will takes me back to school and
helps me channelize my thought process more strategically.
I really like the way Netflix has organized itself serving multiple geos, languages,
variety of shows, series and movies curated by user preferences. I do strongly
believe that with the increasing competition and technology explosion there is always
something new to try out, this is exactly where I bring all my connects and expertise
together and add value for the organization. I am highly confident that my breath and
depth of experience I will be a good fit and can align well with the future growth
journey of Netflix.
