POWERCRETE ARO-UV

3-LPE coated pipeline to be wrapped with POWERCRETE ARO-UV

and Tension Tape.

08-10-2015 APPLICATION INSTRUCTION 2

POWERCRETE ARO-UV

POWERCRETE ARO-UV cures with UV light.

Therefore, ensure a work environment
sheltered from direct sunlight and rain at all
times, until the Tension Tape has been
installed.

08-10-2015 APPLICATION INSTRUCTION 3

POWERCRETE ARO-UV

General information about the application of POWERCRETE ARO-UV

• POWERCRETE ARO-UV shall be taken out of the UV-resistant

bags just prior to application.
• Cutting the POWERCRETE ARO-UV to size shall NOT be done
when directly exposed to UV light.
• Immediately after cutting, the pre-cut material and master roll shall
be covered by the original black foil to avoid that the product starts
curing.
• The light blue release liner is on the inside of the POWERCRETE
ARO-UV, the transparent release liner on the outside.

08-10-2015 APPLICATION INSTRUCTION 4

POWERCRETE ARO-UV

General information about the application of POWERCRETE ARO-UV

• Do not cover large surfaces at once, since POWERCRETE ARO-

UV needs to be covered well within curing time with Tension Tape.
• POWERCRETE ARO-UV and the substrate must not get wet before
and during the application and curing process.
• Overlapping over previous applied POWERCRETE ARO-UV shall
always be done on non-cured POWERCRETE ARO-UV with the
outer release liner being removed.

08-10-2015 APPLICATION INSTRUCTION 5

POWERCRETE ARO-UV

Clean the entire area before the POWERCRETE ARO-UV will be

applied. All loose particles and contaminations shall be removed
according SSPC-SP1.

08-10-2015 APPLICATION INSTRUCTION 6

POWERCRETE ARO-UV

The temperature of the surface shall be minimum 3°C above dew point
during application. Check the dew point on a regular base. Use a
calibrated and approved dew point meter.

08-10-2015 APPLICATION INSTRUCTION 7

POWERCRETE ARO-UV

The length of POWERCRETE ARO-UV shall be minimum 50mm longer

than the circumference of the pipe.

≥50mm

08-10-2015 APPLICATION INSTRUCTION 8

POWERCRETE ARO-UV

Place the POWERCRETE ARO-UV rectangular over

the pipe and check the minimum 50mm overlap. Do
not remove any of the release liners at this moment.

≥50mm

08-10-2015 APPLICATION INSTRUCTION 9

POWERCRETE ARO-UV

Fold back approx. 50mm. of the POWERCRETE ARO-

UV and remove 50mm. of the blue release liner. Stick
the 50mm. back onto the 3-LPE coating and remove
the inner (blue) release liner during the application of
POWERCRETE ARO-UV.

08-10-2015 APPLICATION INSTRUCTION 10

POWERCRETE ARO-UV

Continue with this procedure.

2 applicators, 1 on both side of the pipe.

08-10-2015 APPLICATION INSTRUCTION 11

POWERCRETE ARO-UV

Pull back a sufficient length of the outer release liner

on the overlap area, finish the circumferential wrap
POWERCRETE ARO-UV and fold back the outer
release liner.

≥50mm

08-10-2015 APPLICATION INSTRUCTION 12

POWERCRETE ARO-UV

Apply Tension Tape immediate after completing the

circumferential wrap POWERCRETE ARO-UV with
tension and a minimum overlap of 50%. Keep 70mm.
uncovered if more wraps of POWERCRETE ARO-UV
are needed.

±70mm
≥50%

08-10-2015 APPLICATION INSTRUCTION 13

POWERCRETE ARO-UV

If more wraps of POWERCRETE ARO-UV are needed,

remove approx. 60mm of the outer release liner at the
overlap area.

≥60mm

08-10-2015 APPLICATION INSTRUCTION 14

POWERCRETE ARO-UV

Apply the next wrap POWERCRETE ARO-UV with the

same procedure as previous described. The overlap
must alternate from the previous overlap.

≥50mm

08-10-2015 APPLICATION INSTRUCTION 15

POWERCRETE ARO-UV

Apply Tension Tape immediate after completing the

circumferential wrap POWERCRETE ARO-UV with
tension and a minimum overlap of 50%.

≥50%

08-10-2015 APPLICATION INSTRUCTION 16

POWERCRETE ARO-UV

POWERCRETE ARO-UV will cure by sunlight. When

natural sunlight is nog sufficient, UV/A Lamps and
reflective mirrors shall be used.

UV-LIGHT

08-10-2015 APPLICATION INSTRUCTION 17

POWERCRETE ARO-UV

At bore-heads, first apply POWERCRETE ARO-UV on the pipe,

followed by a straight wrap POWERCRETE ARO-UV to cover the top
side of the pipe.

08-10-2015 APPLICATION INSTRUCTION 18

POWERCRETE ARO-UV

Fold the POWERCRETE ARO-UV tight over the top side of the pipe
and apply another layer of POWERCRETE ARO-UV with the same
procedure.

08-10-2015 APPLICATION INSTRUCTION 19

POWERCRETE ARO-UV

Apply Tension Tape criss-cross over the top side of the pipe until all the
POWERCRETE ARO-UV has been covered and continue by means of
spiral wrap on the straight pipe section.

08-10-2015 APPLICATION INSTRUCTION 20

POWERCRETE ARO-UV

When POWERCRETE ARO-UV is applied on pipes for drilling

activities, 10% of the pipe length shall be applied with 2 layers
POWERCRETE ARO-UV, measured from the bore-head. The second
layer POWERCRETE ARO-UV shall be applied on non-cured
POWERCRETE ARO-UV with the outer release liner being removed.
Tension tape shall only be applied on the second layer.

2 layers 1 layer
