Independence orThe Fourth of July is a national holiday in the United States of


America Commemorates and celebrates the Declaration of Independence. Since the
colonies became independent of Britain, celebrations have taken place in the United
States on the fourth of July to commemorate their independence.It is a public
holiday for Americans remember the ideals of liberty, equality, and opportunity for
everybody.

+ Early celebrations included music and parades.


+ President Thomas Jefferson held the first Fourth of July event at the People's House
in 1801. Parades and firework displays continue to take place at the White House each
year. Today, Independence Day is still marked by patriotic displays and parades which
held in most cities where citizens dress in the red, white & blues of the American
+ No Independence Day is complete without a huge fireworks display. Every county
hosts a fireworks show but the largest in the country is the Macy's Fourth of July
Fireworks display in New York. Fireworks are launched from boats on the East River
and are best enjoyed from a rooftop around Manhattan. Firework displays are often
accompanied by patriotic songs such as "The Star Spangled Banner" and "God Bless
America".
+ Families and friends generally honor it with outdoor gatherings (as the weather
across the country is usually good around this time), icluded picnics, barbecues, and
house parties .... Chips, dips, burgers, hot dogs, and fries are some of the most popular
foods eaten on Independence Day and are nicely washed down with beer.

Labor Day is a federal holiday celebrated on the first Monday of September.
It honors the contributions and achievements of American workers and the labor
movement.
The holiday is rooted in the late 19th century, when labor activists pushed for a federal
holiday to recognize the many contributions workers have made to America’s
strength, prosperity, and well-being. The first Labor Day holiday was celebrated on
Tuesday, September 5, 1882, in New York City, in accordance with the plans of the
Central Labor Union. The Central Labor Union held its second Labor Day holiday just
a year later, on September 5, 1883.
+ Labor parades are the main event of the day, organized by labor unions, worker
organizations, and local communities.These large-scale parades feature thousands of
workers marching with banners, flags, and slogans showcasing worker solidarity.The
parades typically start in the early morning and conclude by midday.
+ This is also a good holiday for Recreational Activities:
- For many Americans, particularly children and young adults, it represents the end of
the summer and the start of the back-to-school season.After the parades often plan
short trips, outdoor excursions, or backyard gatherings during this time.
- Parks, beaches, and entertainment venues host special events with games,
performances, and music to attract large crowds. Retailers, restaurants, and businesses
offer major sales, discounts, and promotions during the Labor Day holiday.This
provides an opportunity for people to shop and dine at reduced prices

Columbus Day is a federal holiday in the United States celebrated on the second
Monday of October. It commemorates the arrival of Christopher Columbus in the
Americas on October 12, 1492.
- Columbus Day is celebrated with parades, festivals, and other events in many
cities across the U.S. Parades are one of the main traditional activities for Columbus
Day. Major cities like New York, Chicago, and Boston hold grand parades with the
participation of clubs, cultural groups, marching bands, and people in traditional
costumes. The largest Columbus Day parade is held in New York City, with over
35,000 participants and over 1 million spectators.The parades usually start early in the
morning and last throughout the day.
- Many organizations, schools, and local communities hold commemorative
ceremonies honor Columbus.Cultural events such as exhibitions, artistic
performances, and traditional cuisine. Many people take advantage of the holiday to
travel, organize outdoor activities like picnics and camping. Sporting events such as
baseball and football games are also held during this occasion. Traditional foods
include Italian dishes like pasta, pizza, and cannoli.
- Controversy and Debate: In recent decades, has been growing controversy and
debate around Columbus Day.Many argue that Columbus's arrival led to the
colonization, exploitation, and genocide of indigenous people in the Americas.As a
result, some states and cities have replaced Columbus Day with Indigenous Peoples'
Day or Native American Day. However, Columbus Day remains an important national
holiday in the United States.
