methods and student involvement.
II. TWO CRITERIA TO EVALUATE THE BOOK “GLOBAL SUCCESS “

Criteria 19 ; The language used in the book is natural language, suitable for real-life
language and the age of the learners.
The importance of using natural and age-appropriate language in textbooks is crucial for
effective language learning. Natural language mirrors real-life communication, aiding
better understanding and engagement. Age-appropriate language ensures learners
maintain interest and relate to the material. This criterion not only aids language
acquisition but also promotes cultural sensitivity by acknowledging diverse backgrounds.
By aligning language with students' age and proficiency, textbooks deepen connections
and enhance comprehension. Overall, this criterion is fundamental in creating engaging
materials that facilitate natural language acquisition and effective communication skills.
The language used in the "Global Success" textbook is natural and aligned with real-
life communication, catering to the age group of its learners. Throughout the textbook,
the language is carefully crafted to mirror authentic communication scenarios, ensuring
that learners encounter vocabulary, expressions, and language structures commonly used
in everyday life
Evidence 1
The lesson "Getting Started" serves as a prime example of how textbooks integrate
authentic language that resonates with real-life situations and matches the students'
developmental stage. In Unit 2's "Getting Started" segment, the language used mirrors
everyday communication styles, closely resembling interactions in the real world.
Furthermore, the lesson employs concise and easily understandable sentences, crafted to
suit the cognitive abilities of high school students. For instance, dialogue prompts like
"What are your plans for the weekend?" prompting responses such as "I'm eager to attend
my school's first Go Green Club meeting," illustrate how the material not only enhances
linguistic skills but also fosters engagement and relevance within the students' immediate
environment.
Utilizing natural language in textbooks not only facilitates students' comprehension and
absorption of information but also minimizes the time and effort required to fully grasp
the content. The lesson strategically incorporates a vocabulary selection tailored to
students' familiarity, featuring straightforward terms like "environment," "clean,"
"school," "weekend," "meeting," "ceremony," "activity," "raise," "awareness," and
"issue." This deliberate choice of vocabulary enhances students' understanding and
retention of the material, ensuring that they can easily relate to and apply what they learn
to their everyday lives.
More specific evidence is In Unit 8, on page 86, the "Getting Started" section
demonstrates the use of natural and realistic language. Common everyday questions like
"What are you doing?" and "What is it about?" are straightforward and easily
comprehensible. Exclamatory responses such as "Sounds interesting," "You're right," and
"You're lucky" are frequently employed in practical and daily conversations.
Furthermore, the vocabulary related to the topic "New Ways to Learn" captures students'
attention, offering effective learning methods tailored for high school students.
