Greek Week is a week during the spring semester when the members of the fraternity and
sorority community come together around events of celebration - be it community service events
or events that celebrate fraternities and sororities. Fraternity and sorority chapters are paired
with each other in teams and compete to win points in order to determine who the Greek Week
champions are. Points are determined by who wins events and/or who has the highest
participation and contributes the most to the community service effort.
The 2024 Greek Week theme is “Greetings from Greek Week”. Think postcards, tourists, road
trips. Each chapter has been assigned to a team, and each team has been assigned to a
different city.
Student organizations are encouraged to find new and creative ways to integrate the
"Greetings from Greek Week" theme throughout the week and within Greek Week
competitions.
Risk Management
● All Appalachian State, as well as Chapter Risk Management policies, should be followed
at all Greek Week functions. In addition, anyone who has been consuming alcoholic
beverages will not be permitted to participate or be a spectator at ANY*** Greek Week
event. If it is suspected that a person has been drinking or is visibly intoxicated, they will
be asked to leave the venue. In the event that the person or persons are noncompliant
with this policy, University Police will be notified and the organization will be disqualified.
○ ***Those who are above the age of 21 may participate in the optional cash bar at
the Greek Week Social. However, those visibly showing high levels of intoxication
may be asked to leave the event.

Every two seconds, someone in the United States needs blood. Blood is needed for
emergencies and for people who have cancer, blood disorders, sickle cell anemia, and other
illnesses. Some people need regular blood transfusions to live. Only 38% of the population is
able to donate, and sadly less than 10% of the eligible population will actually ever donate.
Currently, blood donors are the only source of blood for those in need; there is simply no
substitute for blood.
Individuals who have not been fully vaccinated will be required to wear face masks and socially
distance during their time at the event. Protocols and FAQs may be found on the American Red
Cross website. Donors will also receive a t-shirt, refreshments, and be eligible for special prizes.

FSL Awards
The Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life hosts an annual award ceremony to honor and
recognize the contributions of individuals and chapters that have gone above and beyond in
their fraternal commitment. This year the FSL office will be recognizing both individual awards
as well as chapter awards. The FSL office will also be recognizing the winning team of Greek
Week as well as the members participating in the Emerging Leaders Program.
IFC and PHC chapters are expected to have five (5) members in attendance, not including
anyone nominated for an individual award. MGC and NPHC chapters are expected to have
one (1) member in attendance and may bring up to five (5) members. All chapters are welcome
to invite an adviser to attend the awards ceremony and banquet and will be included in the
expected chapter attendance. Individuals nominated for an individual award are required to
attend this award ceremony. Each chapter will have designated tables so registration for the
event is essential. Chapter attendees will be required to RSVP for the event by March 22,
