CSEC Type Exam Questions 1 Paper 2
CSEC Type Exam Questions 1 Paper 2
Paper 02
SECTION A
1. Christian conducted an experiment to investigate the initial rate at which carbon dioxide was liberated over 70
seconds. He allowed 0.53 g of sodium carbonate powder to react with excess 15 cm3 of 1.5 mol dm-3 of sulphuric
acid at 250C and 1 atm.
During the experiment the conical flask was warm. He recorded the volume of carbon dioxide produced at 10-
seconds intervals in Table 1.
TABLE 1: RESULTS OF CHRISTIAN’S EXPERIMENT
a) Plot a graph of volume of carbon dioxide produced against time from the data using appropriate scales.
[4 marks]
b) From your graph determine the time and volume of carbon dioxide produced when the reaction is complete.
(i) Time: ________________________________________________________________________________
[2 marks]
f) Christopher conducts a number of tests on solid X deep blue-green crystals. Some of the inferences and
observations were recorded in the Table 2. Complete Table 2 by filling in the missing observations and
inferences.
