and passive voice

sentences

Everyone kindly read. Active Voice

In an active voice,
the subject performs
the action. The
subject comes first
in the sentence. The
sentence is usually
shorter and more
direct. The focus is
on the doer of the
action.
Rule: subject + verb
+ object.

Passive Voice
In a passive voice,
the subject receives
the action.
The subject comes
after the action or at
the end of the
sentence. The
sentence is usually
longer and more
complex. The focus
is on the action
itself.
Rule: object + to be
+ past participle
verb + subject.
In order for you to
easily remember the
pattern of the passive
and active voice, just
remember these
acronyms. Yes, Ma’am!

For the active voice,

just remember this
pattern which is
S+V+O where S
stands for the subject
or the doer of the
action, V stands for
the action word and V
stands for the object or
the receiver of the
action.

Again, what pattern

should be followed in
the active voice? Yes,
students N? S+V+O!

Excellent!

Now, let's proceed to

the pattern that should
be follow in passive
voice always
remember that in
passive voice, the
location of subject and
object is the opposite
in active where in, the
subject is always
located at the end of
the sentence while the
object or the receivers
of the action is always
located at the
beginning of the
sentence. Passive
voices follow the
pattern of O+V+S.

Is that clear class? Yes, Ma’am

Again what pattern

should be followed in
passive voice?
Yes, students O? O+V+S Ma’am!

Precisely!

Now I will teach you to

determine whether the
sentence is in an
active or passive
voice.

Let’s start with the

active voice. But first,
let me give you a brief
discussion about the
tenses of verbs.

As we all know verbs These are the past,

consist of tenses, what present and future
are those tenses? Yes tenses.
student R?

Very good!

In each tense, there

are corresponding
parts. Please take a
look at this chart.

Discussing all the

tenses and the active
and passive voice
together can be
challenging. Each
tense has its own
structure and formula,
making it difficult to
understand. To
simplify things, we'll
focus on simple past
tense sentences
today. This will help
establish a foundation
for understanding the
structure of active and
passive voice. The
examples I'll provide
will be in the simple
past tense.

Is that clear class? Yes Ma’am!

In the simple past

tense, the formula for
constructing active
and passive voice
sentences is as
follows.
Everyone Kindly read.

Active Voice:

Why did you say that I consider this

Let’s try to identify the

How about the novel “Noli Me

or object ?

Since this sentence

follows the pattern of
S+V+O, we can
eventually consider it
as an active voice.

Did you get it class? Yes, Ma’am!

Now, I'm going to

teach you how this
sentence can be
transformed into the
passive voice.

To begin, our first step

will be to write the
pattern or formula for
the passive voice.

Again, what is the Rule: object + to be

pattern in passive + past participle
voice? Yes, student verb + subject.
G? (O+V+S)

Very good!

After we write the

formula, we are now
going to identify each
element, which is the
object, the verb, and
the subject.

What is the object in Novel “Noli Me

this sentence? Yes, Tangere”
student T?
Very good!

How about the verb? wrote

Yes, students L?
Very good!

What is the third past

form of wrote? Yes written
student P?

Very good!

Lastly, the subject? Jose Rizal

Very good!

Since we have already

identified the three
elements, we will now
add the appropriate
linking verb by
following the structure
in the simple past
tense.

Again what is the Object of the Active

structure of it Yes, Sentence +
student J? Was/Were + Past
Participle of the
Verb + By + Subject
(optional)
Very good!

This formula
represents the
structure of a passive
voice sentence where
the object of the active
sentence becomes the
subject, the verb is
changed to its passive
form, and the doer of
the action is
introduced with the
preposition "by"

followed by the subject

(optional).

it's important to note

that in the passive
voice, the choice
between "was" and
"were" depends on the
subject that is now the
doer of the action. If
the subject is singular,
"was" is used. If the
subject is plural,
"were" is used.

Since the subject in

the sentence is
singular, what
appropriate linking
verb are we going to

Then after that we are

going to add the word
“by”. Therefore the
passive form of this
sentence will be like

Now, here is my By analyzing the

question. How would subject, verb, and
you analyze the sentence structure,
sentence of the active we can determine
and passive voice? whether a sentence
Yes student R? is in active or
passive voice.
Remember that
active voice
emphasizes the
subject as the doer
of the action, while
passive voice shifts
the focus to the
recipient of the
action or makes the
action less
important.

Why is it important for Studying active and

Now let's try to relate

the concept of active

I have quotes here
