A Fire alarm system has numerous numbers of devices working together to sense
and warn people through visual and audio devices when smoke, fire, carbon
monoxide, or other emergencies exist.
Addressable Fire Alarm Systems It has the system hub that monitors inputs and system integrity, controls outputs,
and relays information.
Analogue addressable systems have constant
two-way communication between the Detectors

BASIC COMPONENTS OF A FIRE ALARM SYSTEM

Procedure:
1. Prepare the Laboratory training board
2. Gather all the necessary tools and materials needed.
3. Secure a working plan and schematic diagram approved by the teacher.
4. Wear the appropriate PPE.
4. Perform lay-outing in the training board based on the required dimension on
the working plan below.
5. Install electrical materials and boxes and panel board according to its design.
6. Check vertically and horizontally the electrical boxes.
7. Cut the desired length of the PVC and rectangular molding.
8. Install the rectangular molding based on the working plan.
9. Measure and cut PVC pipe according to its dimension.
10. Perform bending of PVC pipe using the heat gun.
11. Install the PVC pipe using PVC connectors.
12. Fasten PVC pipe with clamps.
13. Install devices such as; smoke detectors, bell, and manual switch.
12. Install the fire alarm control panel and fasten it with screws.
14. Perform wiring connection based on your schematic diagram.
Note: (wiring depends on the type of smoke detector being used)
15. Double check all electrical wiring before connecting the power source.
Note: (Use multi-tester in checking the wirings)
16. Test and run the system
(Do not attempt to run the system without the supervision of your teacher)
17. Perform good housekeeping.
Activity 1
Activity 2

_______1. It has a system hub monitors inputs and system integrity, control outputs,
and relays information.
_______2. It is a sensor designed to detect and respond to the presence of fire.
_______3. It is a device that detects when it senses smoke inside the building or
premises, and it is the most common type among detectors.
_______4. It is a type of fire alarm detector designed to respond when thermal
energy
inside the building is increasing.
_______5. It is a device that uses projected light to detect smoke across large areas,
typically, as an indicator of fire.

Activity 3
Applying: Draw the wiring diagram of the Smoke Detector. Use the proper symbol of
the devices based on the given below. Use white clean bond paper (20pts)

1. Schematic Diagram of a 3-pin Smoke Detector

2. Schematic Diagram of a 4-pin Smoke Detector
