COURSE DESCRIPTION
1. This course introduces the student midwife to basic concepts in psychology, which is
required to be applied in understanding human behaviour and providing nursing and midwifery
care to individuals.

COURSE OBJECTIVES
2. By the end of the course, the student will be able to:
a. Discuss the development of psychology
b. Discuss human growth and development
c. Describe types of personality
d. Discuss theories of personality
e. Apply the various personality assessment tools in the care of clients
f. Discuss theories of learning
g. Explain factors which influence learning
h. Use the principle of learning in health practice and education
i. Discuss causes of conflicts and how conflicts can be resolved
j. Identify stimuli that are stressors and describe their effects on the individual
k. Develop positive attitude towards society

EVALUATION
