Biosphere Reserve

Biosphere reserve:
Biosphere reserves are learning places for sustainable development
and providing solutions for global challenges. It includes terrestrial,
marine, and coastal ecosystems.
Biosphere reserves are the International recognition provided by
United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization
(UNESCO) and designated under the intergovernmental Man and the
Biosphere (MAB) Programme.
These are nominated by national governments under the sovereign
jurisdiction of the states where they are located.
Since 1986, India has been implementing the Biosphere reserves in
which financial assistance is given by the Government of India in a
90:10 ratio to the North Eastern Region States and three Himalayan
states and in the ratio of 60:40 to other states for maintenance,
improvement, and development of certain items.
There are 18 Biosphere Reserves in India. Biosphere reserves are
living examples of how human beings and nature can co-exist while
respecting each other’s needs. It deals with the question of
reconciling the conservation of bibiodiversit
