Agriculture Advisory
Rice: Rain may not pose any problem but lodging may occur due to gusty wind. If lodging occur,
immediately remove the standing water from the field to prevent the panicle to come into
contact with the water.
Vegetable: Gusty wind and heavy rain, both are harmful to vegetables. Maintain good drainage in the
field. To save the crop from hail storm cover the plant with tree branches to reduce the
intensity of the hail storm.
Livestock: During the thunder storm and heavy rain restrict the animal inside the shed.

Field management: If possible, give a plough to the land free from any crop and planning for next
crop. This will allow rain water to easily penetrate into the soil and recharge the ground
water and also will prevent the soil from washing away during heavy rains.
Application of fertilizer, insecticide, pesticide etc may be restricted after 1st May in view of heavy rain
particularly in North, Unakuti, Dhalai, Khowai, Gomati and West Tripura district.
