1. Accused administered to her husband and deadly poison Believing it to be a love potion
in order to win his affections for her and the husband died. Is the wife liable under section
299, 300 or 304A of the IPC?
2. In the scheme of the IPC, Culpable homicide is a Genus and murder is a species. All
murder is culpable homicide but not vice versa. Discuss.
3. W returned back to her parent’s house within a few days of her marriage and complained
about the demands of dowry for refrigerator, scooter etc. She did not fulfill the demands
and was subjected to face torture and harassment by the appellant (H her husband) like
commenting on her that she looks ugly etc. As a result of such comments and taunts by
the appellant, she committed suicide and died due to the burn injuries. Explain the
liability of the offence(s) committed during the marriage upon W.
4. The boyfriend of the complainant tortured the woman physically by forcing her to have
sexual intercourse with him. He inserted his fingers and a stick in her vagina, causing
severe pains and bleeding but the court found the boyfriend guilty only under S. 498 IPC
and not S. 375 IPC. Do you agree with the decision of the court? Explain with relevant
sections.

of 14 to 18 yrs and never had any allegations either upon his teaching or on his behavior.
One day Jarvis was caught recording female students through a pen which had camera
fitted inside and the videos were made without the consent of the students. Neither the
school nor the school board game him the permission to do so. It was found that there
were 17 active videos of 30 different individuals 27 were female students at the School.
The focus of the video footage was on female’s chest areas and legs while they were
changing their cloths. Can Jarvis be charged under any offence under IPC. Explain.

6. A married young woman, who was discarded by her husband, lived with her father and
brother in Madras. She became intimate with the accused who was her next door
neighbor. The two ran away from Madras and eventually settled in Bombay. The
women’s brother filed a complaint against the accused for the offences under sections
497 and 498 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860. Decide it.
7. The appellant Netra Pal was known to Master Tanu Johia, a 6-year-old boy. One day he
had taken the boy along with other boys on a joy ride in a Rickshaw. While he dropped
the other boys, he did not drop off Tanu. His mother had thought that Netra Pal would
come back with her son in a while. When he didn’t come back, she told his father. He
tried to find him around the area where they live, but failed to locate them and filed a
police report. The police went to the appellant’s village and found him there along with
the child. He was apprehended and a letter asking for Rs. 50,000 in ransom was found in
his possession. Whether the letter recovered from the appellant would constitute as
demand for ransom? And can Netra Pal be made liable for any offence under IPC?
8. Whoever reasons bodily pain, disorder or disease to any man or woman is said to have
caused harm. Explain the above mentioned offence if any and when can it turn grievous
in nature.

9. A, the accused suspected that his wife was carrying on an intrigue with one. In a flight, he
kicked his wife below the navel. She fell down and became unconscious. ‘A' along with
his friends without inquiring as to whether she was dead or not, in haste hung her up to a
tree so as to make it appear that she had committed suicide. A is prosecuted for murder
of his wife. Discuss & decide.
10. “It is a degree of negligence that really determines whether a particular act would amount
to a rash and negligent act as defined under Sec 304-A, IPC. Discuss the meaning of
“rash and negligent” with the help of decided cases.
11. A, B and C assaulted their junior and fresher X in their hostel room while ragging him.
They punched and kicked him on non-vital parts of his body as he refused to dance on a
song played by them on their mobile phone. X fell down and became unconscious.
Presuming him to be dead they hanged him from the ceiling fan by a rope, so as to create
an impression that X had committed suicide. The post-mortem examination showed that
death was due to asphyxiation. Decide culpability of A, B and C with the help of decided
cases.
12. Define Hurt and Grievous Hurt. Differentiate between them with the help of case law.
13. A, by instigation voluntarily causes Z, a person under eighteen years of age to commit
suicide. Whether 'A' has committed an offence? Support your answer with case laws.

defined contours of the provision relating to the exception. In future Judicial discourse
how the time interval between the provocation and the act was defined by the Indian
courts.
17. What is cruelty? Is the section confined only to dowry related cases? Discuss with the
