Proposal for CSR Partnership between Uflex and MSME Chamber of Commerce and Industry of

India for Green Chapter Foundation (Project)

Introduction:

Uflex, as a prominent player in the packaging industry, has demonstrated its commitment to
sustainability and corporate social responsibility (CSR). Green Chapter Foundation, an NGO dedicated
to environmental conservation, and the MSME Chamber of Commerce and Industry of India, focused
on making India a sustainable nation, present an opportunity for Uflex to further its sustainability
goals. This proposal outlines a comprehensive CSR partnership aimed at rejuvenating the Bharalu
River in Guwahati, India, by cleaning the Bharalu Drain, with support from the MSME Chamber for
project facilitation and collaboration.

Understanding Sustainability: Uflex recognizes the imperative of sustainability and its role in
fostering a greener future. By integrating sustainability principles into its operations and CSR
initiatives, Uflex contributes to environmental preservation, social welfare, and economic
development.

Green Chapter Foundation's Initiative: The Bharalu River, once pristine, is now severely polluted
due to sewage, commercial wastewater, and solid waste. Green Chapter Foundation is committed to
reversing this degradation by undertaking a comprehensive project to clean the Bharalu Drain, a
major source of pollution.

MSME Chamber's Role: The MSME Chamber of Commerce and Industry of India plays a crucial role
in fostering sustainability and facilitating partnerships between organizations, companies, and
agencies. With its extensive network and expertise, the Chamber will assist in connecting Uflex and
Green Chapter Foundation with relevant stakeholders, ensuring effective project implementation.

Objectives:

1) Environmental Preservation: To save the Bharalu River and improve its water quality through
sustainable practices.
2) Community Engagement: To raise awareness among the public regarding proper waste
disposal and river conservation.
3) Infrastructure Improvement: To clean the Bharalu Drain and install trash barriers to prevent
further pollution.

Proposed Solution:

a. Awareness Programme: Green Chapter Foundation will conduct a month-long awareness

campaign along the drain's length, engaging volunteers, educational institutions, and the
National Cadet Corps (NCC) to promote behavioural change and environmental stewardship.
b. Clean-up Operation: Over two months, the drain will be cleaned during a lean period, with
coordination and assistance from the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) to ensure
effective waste removal.
c. Trash Barrier Installation: Within six months, Green Chapter Foundation will install three
trash barriers along the drain's length to intercept solid waste and prevent it from entering
the river.
d. Financial Assistance and Support: Green Chapter Foundation seeks financial assistance from
Uflex to support the implementation of this project. The estimated cost for planning and the
awareness programme is Rs. 14,10,000.00, while setting up trash traps requires Rs.
90,000.00, totalling Rs. 15,45,000.00.
e. Additionally, the MSME Chamber of Commerce and Industry of India will provide support in
project facilitation, stakeholder engagement, and collaboration with relevant agencies.

Conclusion: By partnering with Green Chapter Foundation and the MSME Chamber of Commerce
and Industry of India, Uflex can demonstrate its commitment to sustainability and environmental
stewardship while contributing to the rejuvenation of the Bharalu River. We welcome Uflex's support
and invite their team to participate in project inspections, provide technical expertise, and
collaborate in achieving our shared sustainability goals. Together, we can make a significant impact
on the environment and create a better future for generations to come.
