Land cover change has significant implications for ecosystems, biodiversity, hydrology, climate,

and human well-being. It can lead to habitat loss and fragmentation, biodiversity decline, changes in
water runoff and soil erosion patterns, loss of ecosystem services, and impacts on local and regional
climate. Understanding and monitoring land cover change is essential for effective land management,
conservation planning, natural resource management, and sustainable development. Techniques such
as remote sensing, GIS (Geographic Information Systems), and field surveys are commonly used to
assess and monitor land cover change at various spatial and temporal scales.

As of 2000, 5% of Bacoor land cover is >30% tree cover, 238 ha of which is natural forest, 14 ha
plantations and 4.46 ha for other land cover. In 2020 Bacoor has >30% tree cover with different land
cover classes including forest with 6.2% (108 ha), wetland 2.9% (51 ha), grassland 10% (174 ha),
cropland 5.0% (87 ha), settlement 75% (1.30 ha) and 1.3% (23 ha) other additionally, Bacoor has 3.12
kha of land above 10% is tree cover, extending over 65.8% of its land area.

Land cover change is becoming more common as time passes, one of the reasons for this is urbanization,
which is the expansion of the city that results in the conversion of forests, agricultural land to homes,
roads and other infrastructures that can help to grow the economy of an area. Furthermore,
deforestation, agricultural expansion, infrastructure development, and climate change can also be
causes.

Land cover change is a multi-factor problem that can affect a wide range of ecosystems, biodiversity,
climate, water resources and human societies. First here is habitat loss, the conversion of natural
habitats such as forests, wetlands and others into urban areas will reduce the natural habitat of plants
and animals that may appear in extinction. Next is biodiversity decline, habitat loss and fragmentation
will cause biodiversity to decline, animals will lose access to the resources they need and will cause
isolation and competition and predation will increase.

One of the factors is also the changing in hydrological processes, the conversion of land into
urbanization it can cause runoff processes, infiltration and evapotranspiration there can be a change in
local and regional hydrology one of which is the increase in floods, ground water recharge, and change
in water quality.

Also changes in land cover can increased vulnerability to natural hazards such as deforestation and
urbanization it can increase vulnerability to natural hazards such as floods, landslides and wildfires.

The land cover change can also cause climate change, it can change the system of the earth for like by
example deforestation it re-releases the carbon stock which will end up in our atmosphere which is also
a result of global warming as well as the change of precipitation and temperature of an area
