Grade 7 News Broadcasting Cast: Steven, Scott, and Neijel

Anchor: Hello, viewers. Good evening. You're watching [Global Broadcasting

Network], and my name is [Steven Carl Amolar Parena]. The most recent
weather reports from all around the Philippines are provided to you tonight.

Anchor: As the summer heatwave intensifies, Luzon continues to see

oppressive temperatures. Elevations above thirty-five degrees Celsius are
plaguing many parts of Luzon, including Metro Manila. There are health risks
associated with the intense heat, particularly for the elderly, small children,
and people with underlying medical conditions. To prevent heat-related
illnesses, residents are advised to stay inside during peak hours, stay
hydrated, and take the appropriate precautions.

Anchor: In the meantime, moderate to intense rains are expected in certain

areas of the Visayas. A weather advisory has been issued by the Philippine
Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration
(PAGASA) alerting locals to the possibility of thunderstorms and localized
flooding in specific areas. Farmers and locals dealing with dry conditions will
be relieved by this, but authorities advise being cautious and ready to
reduce the risks that come with intense rain.

Anchor: Dispersed rain showers are anticipated to bring some much-needed

respite from the heat in Mindanao. But because of the constant rain,
PAGASA issues a warning about possible flash floods and landslides in low-
lying and mountainous areas. The offices responsible for disaster risk
reduction and management in the area are always prepared to handle any
emergency. To ensure their safety, residents are urged to maintain their
vigilance and to follow any evacuation orders.

Anchor: It's imperative that everyone stay alert and organized as we traverse
the nation's diverse weather conditions. For additional information and
advisories regarding weather-related developments, keep an eye on [Global
News Network]. Throughout these trying times, don't forget to keep yourself
informed, be safe, and watch out for one another.

Anchor: Now, Mr. Scott Alan Wilson, a Cavite, Bacoor resident, is joining us
live to discuss his opinions on the current weather conditions in Luzon. We
appreciate you being here today, Mr. Scott Alan Wilson.

Neijel: Good Morning I'm Victor Neijel Cabellan Your Interviewer Today. Mr.
Scott Alan Wilson, can you share with us how the recent heatwave in Luzon
has been affecting you and your community?

Scott: I appreciate the opportunity to be here, though. Recently, the heat has
been unbearably intense. Everyone has found it challenging, but the elderly
and small children in particular. To avoid the heat, a lot of us are spending as
much time indoors as we can, and we're always telling each other to stay
hydrated by drinking lots of water.

Neijel: Have you noticed any specific challenges or concerns arising from the
prolonged heatwave?

Scott: Without a doubt. In addition to the discomfort, heat-related diseases

like dehydration and heatstroke are becoming more common. When more
people rely on air conditioning to stay cool, there is also pressure on utilities
like electricity. In addition, everyone should exercise extra caution because
the hot and dry weather increases the risk of fires.

Neijel: Thank you for sharing your insights with us, Mr. Scott Alan Wilson. We
appreciate your time. Back to you Steven.

Steve: Thank you Neijel. I appreciate you giving your thoughts on that Mr
Scott Alan Wilson. Now, returning to our audience, Mr. Scott Alan Wilson
described from personal experience the difficult weather conditions in
Luzon. Into our next news.
Steve: Our top story today: A crucial phone call between U.S. President Joe
Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping has garnered global attention, as it
navigated the delicate tensions surrounding the Philippines and Taiwan."

Steve: Amidst escalating tensions in the South China Sea, President Biden
reiterated the US commitment to protecting the Philippines during the call.
Steve: China's assertive actions in the disputed waters, particularly the
presence of Chinese vessels near Philippine-claimed territories, have caused
the Philippines great concern.

Steve: The leaders talked about the ongoing tensions surrounding Taiwan in
addition to the situation in the South China Sea. China has not changed its
position on the matter, but the United States has reaffirmed its support for
Taiwan's autonomy.

Steve: The conclusion of this discussion may have a big impact on both the
general U.S.-China relationship and regional stability.

Steve: We'll keep a careful eye on this story and provide updates as they
become available. I'm [Steven Carl Amolar Parena] saying Goodbye, for
Global News Network. I'm grateful you came to watch.
