World War One Historical Letter Task

You are required to assume that you are a soldier fighting in World War One and are writing to your
parents about what you are experiencing. You must include each of the following components:

THE BATTLE

You must discuss one of the battles of World War One and describe something unique to that particular
battle. For example, Vimy Ridge was the first time Canadians fought as a national unit. You must have a
paragraph describing what was special about the battle.

CONDITIONS

In another paragraph you must include a discussion of the conditions in which you are fighting. For
example, tell your parents in the letter about trench warfare, and the challenges you face as a soldier.

CAUSE OF WORLD WAR ONE

Describe what the causes of World War One are to your parents in another paragraph. Be sure to
discuss the direct and indirect causes.

Be sure to proofread your work as grammar and spelling do count! Use three words of the day and bold
them.
