Recipe for Brownies

Ingredients:

1 cup (225g) unsalted butter

2 cups (400g) granulated sugar

4 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

¾ cup (90g) unsweetened cocoa powder

1 cup (125g) all-purpose flour

½ teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon baking powder

Optional: 1 cup (175g) chocolate chips or chopped nuts for added texture and flavor

Instructions:

Preheat your oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan, or line it
with parchment paper for easier removal.

Melt the butter: In a microwave-safe bowl or over a double boiler, melt the butter until it's completely
liquid.

Mix the wet ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter and granulated sugar. Stir
until well combined.

Add the eggs and vanilla: Crack the eggs into the bowl with the butter and sugar mixture, one at a time,
mixing well after each addition. Then, stir in the vanilla extract until evenly incorporated.

Incorporate the dry ingredients: Sift the cocoa powder, all-purpose flour, salt, and baking powder into
the wet ingredients. Use a spatula or wooden spoon to gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet until
just combined. Be careful not to overmix, as this can result in tough brownies.

Add optional mix-ins: If using chocolate chips or nuts, fold them into the batter until evenly distributed.

Transfer the batter to the pan: Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it out
evenly with a spatula.

Bake: Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into
the center comes out with a few moist crumbs clinging to it. Be careful not to overbake, as this can
result in dry brownies.
Cool and serve: Allow the brownies to cool in the pan for at least 10-15 minutes before slicing and
serving. You can enjoy them warm or at room temperature, plain or topped with a scoop of ice cream or
a drizzle of chocolate sauce.
