TEACHING PRACTICE TP701: WHAT DO YOU NEED??

(FULL-TIME JAN 2024 INTAKE)


Final School Assessment and Attendance Register must be emailed by school to STADIO by
7 June (tbh just get them to do it as soon as you’re done, but see SS4 below)

1. SS2 MENTOR LESSON ASSESSMENTS: DUE 07 JUNE 2024


• Lesson plans: Arial, size 12pt, black.
• Your mentor is required to see your lesson plans BEFORE you teach the
lessons.
• 3 lesson plans, for 3 formally assessed lessons. Curriculum docs used to plan
need to be attached to each plan.
What are you submitting to the SS2 portal?
✓ 3 lesson plans with attached Curriculum document pages
✓ The resources you used for your lesson (PowerPoints, videos, pics etc)
✓ The 3 assessments from your mentors on all 3 lessons.
Remember that all of these items will need to be submitted AGAIN in your SS3
PoE.

2. SS3 ELECTRONIC PORTFOLIO OF EVIDENCE: DUE 07 JUNE 2024


• Brace yourself <3
• You will submit an electronic copy AND have a physical copy for your
mentor/principle
• You HAVE TO have a LESSON OUTLINE FORM (stamped by the school)
COMPULSORY for both electronic Portfolio and hard copy portfolio
Here’s what’s happening: you need a Portfolio divided into 4 sections:

- All sections are submitted on separate links, physical copy is all in one folder,
with dividers
Section 1: Administration (14 Marks)
✓ Profile Page
- Your name, surname, student number, photo. There’s a template
available for this.
- Info on School: name, address, size of school, surname & name of
mentors and their subjects
- Include your name, surname, and student number on the outside
cover of your physical PoE.
✓ Include all following docs IN THIS ORDER unless stated otherwise:
- Profile page
- Timetables for all mentor teachers
- Daily planners
- Lesson plan outline

✓ Typed and video presentation of ‘My Teaching Philosophy’


- Written description of your values, goals, and beliefs regarding
teaching and learning
- Philosophy must include: What is your teaching philosophy?
Why did you choose that teaching
philosophy?
How does your philosophy align with your
view on educating learners?
Link your philosophy to at least 1 education
theory you covered in EDSA.
- Written version – 1 page. Video recording – Max 5mins
- Video: introduce yourself, name of school, present with key points
(must be done on STUDIO)
- Written version goes into Physical PoE, link to video in Electronic PoE
AND written included in E.PoE

Ensure that the link for the recorded video is accessible for assessment.
Your final video must be named: Student number-filename (eg. 24220842-My
Philosophy Video

Section 2: Formally Assessed Lessons (6 marks)

✓ All of the following docs to be submitted in E.POE and P.POE


- Lesson plan outline and verification form
- 3 x school mentor teacher assessment forms
- Self-reflections on every lesson taught.
- Your lesson assessment form, lesson plan and then resources. Do this
for each formally assessed lesson.
- The curriculum page (for example CAPS) used to inform your lesson
planning must be included at the end of each lesson plan.
- Resources should be filed in plastic sleeves / envelopes in the
physical PoE and attached as appendices in the electronic
Sections 3: Lesson Observation with Purpose (50 Marks)

• Write a detailed 700 words (2 pages) on the following points you observed
during your pracs: include subject, grade topic and content area.
✓ Time use
✓ Pace
✓ Presentation clarity
✓ Questions and answers
✓ Learner movement
✓ Differentiation
✓ Material and resource management
✓ Participation strategies
✓ Learner engagement
✓ Monitoring and checking for understanding
These points are explained in more detail in the official assessment template. You
can’t submit this without having submitted Section 1 and 2.

Section 4: Final Reflection (25 Marks)

• THIS IS FOR ELECTRONIC PORTFOLIO ONLY


• Theres a template available for it
Here’s what’s up:
✓ Critical reflection report (2 - 4 pages, 700 – 1400 words) on teaching
experience with the following numbering:
1. Intro statement – general overall experience and reasons
2. 2 goals after TP – were they achieved or not and reasons
3. 1 school policy you found valuable – give name of policy, purpose and
why
4. Reflect on 2 learning experiences that helped you gain
knowledge/skills/professional dispositions
5. 2 challenges you experienced with classroom management/ behaviour
and how you resolved it
6. Concl. with a learning point on TP for future PGCE students
Name your document as follows: Student Number – Final Reflection Report

3. SS4 FINAL SCHOOL BASED ASSESSMENT: 07 June 2024

Nothing for us to do, but must be emailed by mentor by 7 June

• Report has 2 sections – but it’s for your mentor not you, so don’t stress
• It’s confidential, we’re technically not allowed to see it
• It needs to have the school stamp
• Final Assessment must be emailed by the school from a school email with
the Attendance register to pgcetp@stadio.ac.za
• Your mentor should really keep a copy of it to be safe

OK DUDE BREEEAAATTHHHH, if you made it through congrats… don’t forget you


have to redo this all again next semester sorry not sorry hmu if you have
