1. Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL) has become India’s first company to have above 10,000
megawatt (MW) or 10 gigawatt (GW) of renewable energy capacity. AGEL, the renewable energy
arm Adani Group, aims at a 45 GW renewable energy capacity by 2030. The company now has an
operating portfolio of 10,934 MW, the largest in India. It has brought 2,848 MW renewables
capacity on stream in FY24. AGEL’s operational portfolio comprises 7,393 MW solar, 1,401 MW
wind and 2,140 MW wind-solar hybrid capacity. AGEL is building the world’s largest Renewable Energy plant, a 30 GW

2. Indian government has raised Rs 16,500 crore ($1.98 billion) in 2023-24 by selling its stakes in about 10 state-run
companies, about 9% lower than its internal target of Rs 18,000 crore. In 2023-24, the government received about Rs

3. Ministry of Health & Family Welfare has launched the “myCGHS” app on the iOS platform to
enhance access to electronic health records, information, and resources for beneficiaries of
the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS). The app was developed by the National
Informatics Centre (NIC) in collaboration with the NIC Health Team. It is available for free on
both iOS and Android platforms. It is an integral part of the government’s efforts to leverage
technology to improve the quality and accessibility of healthcare services. The myCGHS app
allows beneficiaries to book and cancel online appointments, download CGHS cards and index

4. Biscuit brand, Britannia NutriChoice, has launched the health-tech app “NutriPlus” to
deepen engagement with consumers. The app has been designed in partnership with
Aktivo Labs, and enables monitoring of health and wellness metrics. The NutriPlus app
harnesses evidence-based technology and has been built with an aim to democratise
health monitoring in the country. The app provides NutriScore, which is a one-score

8. HDFC Bank and Canada-based Toronto Dominion (TD) Bank Group have announced an expanded pact supporting Indian
students planning to study in Canada. With this agreement, TD and HDFC Bank have announced a new referral programme
where in HDFC Bank will refer students planning to study in Canada to TD’s International Student GIC Program. In 2023,
there were over 4,25,000 Indian international students with active study permits in Canada, making the country the top

9. Canara Bank has unveiled a series of new products and services aimed at enhancing
customer experience and streamlining banking operations. The bank has launched a
healthcare focused loan product, “Canara Heal”, to meet the shortfall of hospitalization
expenditure while settling through Third Party Administrator (TPA) healthcare insurance
claims of self and/or dependents. The bank also launched a customized savings account
for women, called “Canara Angel”, with features like Cancer Care policy, pre-approved
personal loan ‘Canara ReadyCash’ and online loan against term deposit product ‘Canara
MyMoney’. The bank has also unveiled ‘Canara UPI 123PAY ASI’, a user-friendly payment interface, and ‘Canara HRMS
Mobile App for Staff’, an HR management solution for the bank’s employees. Moreover, Rajesh Bansal, CEO of Reserve
Bank Innovation Hub (RBIH), launched Digital SHG initiative named “Canara SHG e-MONEY” and exchanged White paper

10. India’s defence exports touched a record Rs 21,083 crore (approximately $2.63
billion) in FY 2023-24, amounting to a growth of 32.5% over the previous financial
year’s figure of Rs 15,920 crore. The Private sector and Defence Public Sector
Undertakings (DPSUs) contributed about 60% and 40% of the defence exports,
respectively. From 1,414 export authorisations in FY23, the number jumped to 1,507
in FY24. In February 2024, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said that India’s annual
defence production was expected to reach Rs 3 trillion by 2028-29, while exports of military hardware could reach Rs
50,000 crore. With a 42% share, the United States is the top global arms exporter. France and Russia are at the second
spot with an 11% share each, followed by China at 5.8%. India supplies arms to over 85 countries, including Italy, the
Maldives, Russia, Sri Lanka, the UAE, the Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Poland, Egypt, Israel, Spain, Chile, and others. {Read

11. President Droupadi Murmu dedicated “CAR-T Cell Therapy” to the nation at IIT
Bombay. The CAR-T Cell Therapy, which is used to treat cancer patients, has been
developed in India by IIT Bombay-incubated Company Immunoadoptive Cell
Therapy (ImmunoACT), and Tata Memorial Hospital. In ‘Chimeric Antigen Receptor T
cell (CAR-T cell)’ therapy, T cells are taken from the patient and modified in the
laboratory to express a special protein called a chimeric antigen receptor (CAR). It is
then reinfused in the patient as this CAR protein helps the T cells recognise and fight

12. Axis Capital has appointed Atul Mehra as the Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer
(CEO). Mr Atul succeeds Salil Pitale. Mehra is a veteran dealmaker with over 3 decades of experience
and was the joint MD at JM Financial. Axis Capital has also appointed Parag Gude as the Chief Operating

14. On April 2, Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi was sworn for his 3rd 6-year term in office as

16. On April 2, the government of India has launched a new scheme, named as “Electric Mobility Promotion Scheme 2024
(EMPS 2024)”, to promote electric vehicles in India. Implemented by the Ministry of Heavy Industries (MoHI), the new
scheme has come into effect from April 1, 2024, after the end of the Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric
Vehicles in India (FAME) scheme on March 31, 2024. The EMPS 2024, a limited fund scheme of Rs 500 crore for 4 months,
aims to boost the adoption of electric two-wheelers and three-wheelers from April 1 to July 31, 2024. The new scheme will
offer support of up to Rs 10,000 per two-wheeler for about 3.33 lakh two-wheelers. For small three-wheelers (e-rickshaw
and e-carts), the new scheme has provision for up to Rs 25,000 subsidy for over 41,000 such vehicles. The financial support
will be up to Rs 50,000 in case of a large three-wheeler. {Read more}

17. Paradip Port in Odisha has emerged as India’s largest major port in terms of cargo
volumes by clocking 145.38 MMT (million metric ton) throughput in FY 2023-24. For the first
time in the 56-year history of operation, Paradip Port has surpassed previous records set by
Deendayal Port in Gujarat. During FY24, the port achieved the highest-ever coastal shipping
traffic of 59.19 MMT. The thermal coal shipping has reached 43.97 MMT. The berth
productivity of 33,014 MT achieved by Paradip Port is the highest among all the ports of the
country. Paradip Port, with 289 million tonnes capacity, is poised to cross the 300 million tonnes capacity mark in another

18. SJVN Ltd has signed an MoU with IIT Patna to use advanced geological models in its
tunneling projects. One of the key outcomes of this partnership will be the development of
predictive analytics algorithms. These algorithms, leveraging integrated geotechnical data,
will forecast potential risks and provide early warning systems specifically tailored for
tunnelling projects. Such proactive measures are expected to substantially mitigate time

including the A320 family planes. Under the contract, MASPL will supply close to 2,300 varieties of metallic components to
Airbus Atlantic in France from its manufacturing base in India. MASPL has been a direct supplier to Airbus Group since

20. Japan’s Panasonic Energy Co. Ltd. announced to form a Joint Venture (JV) with Indian Oil
Corporation Ltd (IOCL), the nation’s biggest oil firm, to manufacture cylindrical lithium-ion
batteries in India for 2-and 3-wheel vehicles and energy storage systems. Cylindrical lithium-
ion batteries are commonly used in consumer electronics, power tools, and electric vehicles.
IOCL is aiming to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2046, aligning with the Indian
