LECTIO DIVINA (Pray with Sciptures)

Topic: Journeying Together

Intro: Today we will pray and contemplate with the Scriptures, our theme for today is
journeying together or walking together, this is synodality, . We will be using Lectio
Divina steps: Reading or Lectio, Meditatio or meditate, Oratio or prayer, Contemplatio
or contemplate and Actio or action. Before we begin, I invite everyone to be open to
the grace of the Holy Spirit.

Opening Prayer: Come Holy Spirit (Sung)

A. Read (lectio)
We will now begin by slowly and meditatively reading the Scripture passage out loud.
Listen for a particular word or phrase that speaks to you at this moment and sit with it
for a time.

A Reading from the 1st letter of Paul to the Corinthians. (1 Cor 12: 12 – 26)

As a body is one though it has many parts, and all the parts of the body, though
many, are one body, so also Christ. For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one
body, whether Jews or Greeks, slaves or free persons, and we were all given to drink of
one Spirit. Now the body is not a single part, but many. If a foot should say, “Because I
am not a hand I do not belong to the body,” it does not for this reason belong any less
to the body. Or if an ear should say, “Because I am not an eye I do not belong to the
body,” it does not for this reason belong any less to the body. If the whole body were
an eye, where would the hearing be? If the whole body were hearing, where would the
sense of smell be? But as it is, God placed the parts, each one of them, in the body as
he intended. If they were all one part, where would the body be? But as it is, there are
many parts, yet one body. The eye cannot say to the hand, “I do not need you,” nor
again the head to the feet, “I do not need you.” Indeed, the parts of the body that
seem to be weaker are all the more necessary, and those parts of the body that we
consider less honourable we surround with greater honour, and our less presentable
parts are treated with greater propriety, whereas our more presentable parts do not
need this. But God has so constructed the body as to give greater honour to a part that
is without it, so that there may be no division in the body, but that the parts may have
the same concern for one another. One part suffers, all the parts suffer with it; if one
part is honoured, all the parts share its joy.

The Word of the Lord.

B. Meditate (meditatio) –
Now, we will read the same passage a second time. As you re-engage the text, let the
word or phrase that stood out become your invitation to dialogue with God. Allow the word
or phrase to wash over you and permeate your thoughts and feelings.
C. Pray (oratio) - Read the text a third time. What is God saying to you in these words?
What do you want to say to God? What feelings do these words raise up in you? Share
your answers with God.
D. Contemplate (contemplatio): Sharing

1. We can share now the word or phrase that touched us, why do you choose that word?
Is there any significance of that word to your work as a teacher? How?
2. What are the hindrances or struggles that you are facing/experiencing to fully walk or
journey together with each other?

E. Action (Actio):

1. Base from your sharing in Contemplatio, what are the things you can do to journey or
walk together with the members of this community?
2. Now, I invite everyone to offer to God our own prayers or petition for ourselves or for
one another.

Closing Song: Pananagutan
