Problem Background
Traffic monitoring is of extreme importance to keep road
safety a priority. That’s why authorities use technological
innovation in their systems because it’s crucial to the traffic
monitoring process. They utilize new tools and equipment
such as monitoring cameras to capture traffic in real-time.
These videos are also recorded for future use should the need
arise. Using traffic surveillance cameras comes with a few
other benefits. Hence, they are installed in the right places. To
further tackle its benefits, the following are reasons why traffic
monitoring cameras remain helpful in monitoring traffic
situations today.
There are several benefits of cameras
Utilized for Planning and Measurement
Helps Avoid Traffic Accidents
Policing Becomes Environment-Friendly
Cost-Effective Means of Tracking Traffic
Different Types of Cameras for Specific Purposes

Problem Statement
The task is to go to a location where we can find a simple
determinate structure and pick one for analysis practice. After
selecting a determinate structure (such as a frames, truss,
arch, or beam), determinate the loads (dead and live) acting
upon it, and analyze the selected structure.
In our case we selected road safety cameras. Just like this

Our Structure is

5
Applied Methodology
First of all, we selected the frame from the available
options like Frames, Arches, Trusses, and Cables. etc.

Then we searched on Google for the standards of sign

boards and after reading those standards we took the
general dimensions from that standard ASCE-7- 02
using those dimensions and supports we analyzed our
frame-made Axial Force, Shear Force, Bending
moment diagrams, etc.

In our case we supposed 4-point loads acting

downward on the horizontal member of frame. Also, we
assumed that the load of transformer is acting
downward at the top or joining point of horizontal and
vertical member of frame.

Dead load:
Density of steel(ρ) = 492 𝒍𝒃⁄ 𝟑

Diameter of vertical member of frame (𝒅𝑽 ) = 6 in

Diameter of Horizontal member of frame (𝒅𝑯 ) = 4 in

Formula:
𝝅 𝒅𝟐
▪ V= x height
𝟒

Volume of vertical member of frame (𝑽𝑽 ) = 2.36 𝒇𝒕𝟑

Volume of Horizontal member of frame (𝑽𝑯 ) = 1.05 𝒇𝒕𝟑

Total dead load:
Dead load = (492 x 2.36) + (492 x 1.05)
Dead load = 1677.72 lbs.

Live load:
Live load is may be due to wind so,

SFD, AFD & BMD under the action of wind

Wind act as UDL equal to 35.75 lb/ft

Conclusion
Structure is stable under the action of wind
