ORDINANCE NO. _______ AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE ISLAND LAKE VILLAGE CODE REGARDING VEHICLE SALES ________________________________________________________________ WHEREAS, the Village of Island Lake, Lake and McHenry Counties, Illinois, is an Illinois municipal corporation; and WHEREAS, from time-to-time, the Village reviews its ordinances to determine whether the provisions are consistent with Illinois statutes and Village ordinances and regulations; and WHEREAS, the Mayor and Board of Trustees find that it is in the best interest of the Village to amend the Village Code to regulate vehicle sales in the Village, as more fully set forth in this Ordinance; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE Mayor and Board of Trustees of the Village of Island Lake, Lake and McHenry Counties, Illinois, as follows: Section 1. The above stated recitals are incorporated herein by reference.
Section 2. Section 5-1C of the Village Code is hereby amended to add a new Section 5-1C-6 as follows: 5-1C-6: A. B. DISPLAY OF VEHICLES FOR SALE
It shall be unlawful to park a vehicle on any street, parkway, sidewalk, or public property for the purpose of displaying it for sale. It shall be unlawful to park a vehicle on private property belonging to another for the principal purpose of displaying the vehicle for sale. It shall also be unlawful for the owner of property to allow vehicles owned by others to be parked on the owners property for the principal purpose of being offered for sale. This subsection shall not apply to property zoned to permit the commercial sale of vehicles.
Section 3: In the event a conflict exists between the terms of this Ordinance and any other ordinance of the Village, the terms of this Ordinance shall govern. Section 4: In the event that any term or provision hereof is found or determined to be invalid, the invalid portion shall be deemed stricken herefrom and the remainder shall be in full force and effect.
