SIMPLE PAST TENSE

(GRAMMAR)

Is a verb tense that is used to talk about things that happened before now.

Subject + Past Tense

Example 1: Wolfgang entered a hula hoop contest. Example


2: He won the silver medal.

Verb to be + an adjective/noun/prepositional phrases

Did not/Didnʼt + root form of verb

Example 1: Wolfgang did not brag too much about his hoop skills. Example 2:
Wolfgangʼs girlfriend didn’t see the contest.

Subject (S/P) + Was not/Wasnʼt or Were not/Werenʼt

Example 1: The third-place winner was not as happy as Wolfgang.


Example 2: The contestants were not ready to leave either.
