1. INTRODUCTION

1.1. USE AND FUNCTION

The ES 120 / 252 Cooled Incubators are used to obtain temperatures from -10 ° C to
60 ° C in the chamber. They keep the set temperature stable during the operation.
The incubators are used for cold storage, incubation, heating and drying applications.

Stable and homogeneous temperature in the useful volume is provided by means of

the forced air circulation through the stainless steel heater and the cooling
evaporator. The insulation, which is proportional to the dimensions of the incubator,
not only provides a homogenous temperature distribution but also makes the
operation of incubator economical.

The samples can be observed through the heat treated glass door. The chamber is
illuminated by the lamp which is on when the outer door is opened.

The incubator ensures reliable working conditions by the programmable

microprocessor controlled main PCB which has a very high control accuracy.
Adjustable safety thermostat offers an additional safety.

Do not operate the cooled incubator for purposes other than main purpose.

The cooled incubator is only to be used by authorised people after the user’s
manual has been read carefully. Only technical personnel can handle the
product in case of a failure.

The ES series incubators are manufactured according to the following

standards

EN 61010-1, EN 61000-6-3.

3. INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

3.1. Lifting and Transport

Due to the heavy weight of the unit, all handling must be carried out by using proper
handling equipment. The unit must be supported from underneath and never be
turned over.

3.2. Unpacking

Remove the packing cardboard box and the second nylon packing around the cooled
incubator. The below written are provided with the equipment, please check them;

• User ‘s Manual
• Power Cable
• 2 shelves for ES 120 and 3 shelves for ES 252
• 2 shelve carriers per 1 shelf

3.3. Environmental Conditions

Please pay special attention to the followings,

Indoor use only

Ambient temperature: 5 ° C to 40 ° C
Humidity level % 80 up to 22° C
Maximum height 2000 m.

The maximum performance is obtained between 15 °C and 25 ° C.

IMPORTANT : The instrument is designed to operate in 20 ° C ( ± 5 ° C ) laboratory

conditions. The efficiency of the unit decreases if the ambient temperature exceeds
the limits.

6
3.4. Mains Supply

The cooled incubator requires 230V, 50 / 60 Hz.

Please make sure that the supplied mains matches the required power ratings.

Always plug the cooled incubator to correctly grounded sockets.

A supply fitted with a circuit breaker should be used for protection against
short-circuit in case of an isolation fault.

3.5. Positioning

Lift the cooled incubator carefully with proper handling equipment, and carry it to its
place.

Balance the incubator on the four pedestals. If necessary, adjust the height of the
pedestals. Insert shelf carriers and the shelves.
Check the followings,

• The proposed site is suitable for users,

• The operator can follow up the unit even he deals with something else.
• The cooled incubator does not occupy the utilization space of others or damage
them.
• There is enough space (at least 20cm.) from the cooling unit ventilation.
• Leave at least 20cm. on the back side of the unit.

3.6. Prior to Incubation

Plug the instrument in to a grounded socket.

Check the followings,

• Make sure that the safety thermostat is adjusted to the temperatures which are
higher than the set temperature.
• Liquids are not heated in sealed containers,
• The boiling point of the samples are higher than the set temperature.
• The freezing points of the samples are lower than the set the temperature.
• The liquids which may expand during heating do not overflow from their
containers,
• The set temperature does not destroy the structure of the samples,
• The vapor and gases which are generated during the operation are not harmful to
human health or flammable or explosive,
• Set the safety thermostat. (the safety thermostat set value should always be set a
value that is higher than the working temperature.)
• Plug the power cable into a grounded socket.
• The instruments, which will be dried up and heated, should not be combustible
and explosive, especially please kindly check that.

IF MENTIONED WARNINGS ARE NOT CONSIDERED, NUVE WILL NOT BE

RESPONSIBLE FROM THEIR RESULTS.

soon as you press the START key the program starts to run and it repeats as many
as the repetition number. You can observe the elapsed repetition number by pressing
the value decrease key during the operation.

NOTE: Program repetition is possible for only Timer-2 mode.

4.3. Completion Of The Operation

• See that the program is over, lead the instrument to the STOP position
• Take the samples out. Be careful while handling the samples after the operation
as they can be hot.
• Wipe the chamber surface if needed when the chamber is cold enough.
• You may leave the incubator at the stand-by position or switch it off

12
If the unit is in START position in case of the open door, it will keep operating
and the heaters will be over-heated. Besides, the heaters and other
components may be defected. Please be careful.

5. PERIODIC MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING

5.1. Periodic Maintenance

The cooled incubator does not require any periodical maintenance which should be
carried out by the operator.

Please contact to Nuve agent for your servicing and preventative maintenance
requirements.

5.2. Cleaning

• After every operation wipe down the chamber surface to remove any undesirable
effects of the operation, such as spillage.
• You may use a soft brush to clean the chamber.
• Check regularly and clean the condenser, according to the dirtiness of the
environment.
• For the external body, you may use a piece of cloth. Mild detergent use is
recommended to remove difficult dust and dirt.
• Please aware of the undesirable effects of the chemicals and be careful while
applying them.
• Protect the chamber against rust coming from outside.

6. TROUBLESHOOTING

6.1. General Troubleshooting

If the cooled incubator fails to operate, check the followings;

• The on / off switch is on.

• The mains supply is present.
• Fuses are sound.
• The plug is plugged in properly.
• The plug is not defective.
• The installation of the plug is not defective.

If the cooled incubator does not heat, check the followings;

• The program has started.

• The safety thermostat is set at a temperature higher than the set temperature.

If the temperature exceeds the set value, check the followings;

13
• The internal circulation fan operates.

If the cooled incubator does not cool, check the followings;

• The internal circulation fan operates,

• The ambient temperature does not exceed 20 ± 5°C limits.

6.2. Error Codes

In case of failure during an operation, below written codes are shown on temperature
display and the alarm sounds.

Err 1 : Thermocouple ends are broken.

Err 3 : The measured temperature value exceeds the limits of measurement range.

Err 5 : There is a failure about the cooling system.

Err 6 : Timer-1 (or TIMER-2) is selected but no value is set for the time for any step.

EoFF: This code appears in case of a power failure if the power failure causes the
temperature inside the chamber to go beyond the alarm limits.

OPEN: The door stayed open for more than 1 minute during the operation.

HıGH or LoU: The measured temperature exceeds the set alarm limits while
operating on the set temperature

If the temperature is higher than the set temperature by a value greater than the
alarm limit it shows HıGH, if the temperature is lower than the set temperature by a
value greater than the alarm limit it shows LOU.

In case of any error, the program is stopped automatically.
