8-Week Home-Based Exercise Program For Patients With Acetabular Retroversion and Excessive Anterior Pelvic Tilt
8-Week Home-Based Exercise Program For Patients With Acetabular Retroversion and Excessive Anterior Pelvic Tilt
Background
Anterior pelvic tilt is known to increase the risk of impingement of the hip joint and is potentially
associated with hip-related pain.
The aim of the exercise program was to reduce the level of hip-related pain and the degree of
anterior pelvic tilt.
The frequency of the program was three times a week, with an optional extra session. The duration
of the program for the first two weeks (Module 1 – the start-up phase) was approximately 30
minutes. For the remaining six weeks (Module 2 – the progression phase), every second week, some
exercises increased in the number of repetitions, and some exercises were replaced. Thus, the
duration of the exercise program could be extended to approximately 45 minutes.
In case of adverse events or difficulties related to the exercise program (e.g., pain, discomfort,
exercise performance), the physical therapist was contacted. Hip-related pain was defined as
symptoms exceeding 4 on a 0-10 scale (0 = no pain, 10 = worst possible pain) before, during, or
after exercise.
