1. Introduction: Comments

This technical report main concern is to correct main power cable supplying
Motor Control Center (LC5-B1-312-01-MCC-E/ SYUA020) always facing
abnormal hot cable temperature during the time when three (3) chiller systems
Page 2/5

running in operation simultaneously.

2. Action Taken:

 Enova has already discussed This matter with all concern parties and they are
aware that abnormal hot cable temperature always occurs when simultaneous
operations of the three (3) Chillers.
 This issue already included on Enova electrical snag list.

3. Technical Analysis:

 The cable sizing computation did not include the 125% additional size for the
continues loadings safety factor of the power cable.
 Continuous cable loadings as per the actual reading on the (Picture 3) power
logic digital screen is already 478.7ampere (L2) almost 100% of the cable full
current carrying capacity.
 Cable specification is a four (4)core-240mm2 CU/MICA/XLPE/LS0H which
as per manufacturer’s datasheet full current carrying capacity is 496 amperes
only.
 This incident always occurs every summer time during simultaneous
operation of the three (3) chiller systems which the demand load is very high.
 Motor pumps actual loadings in table form for references.

5. Conclusion:
 During the time of installation/ construction of the project not clear if all
concern parties check the cable sizing safety factor of the power cable. When
we take over the project chiller systems are already in operations.

Recommendations:

 We recommend to install same size of power cable on each phase to insure

cable safety factor will comply and to remove/ eliminate abnormal hot cable
temperature.
 We suggest that all modification works will perform after summer season to
avoid criticality on the operation.
 Any modification works both on the MCC and Main Distribution Board
(MDB) panel must be inform first the client for approval.
