LESSON 3- Reading :”American Idol”

I. OBJECTIVES:
1. Knowledge: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
- Enrich the vocabulary with words or phrases related to a famous TV music show:
series ;eliminate; musical instrument; talennted ;semi-final; perform; identify with ; in
search of; stage ;…etc.
- Know more about one of the most famous Tv music show in the world.
-Read for specific information in text about a famous TV music show.
2. Competences: In the lesson, students should be able to:
- Form some competences like self - reliance, self- study, problem solving: be active when
learning and finding information in the field of a famous TV music show.
- Develop co-operative and interpersonal communication competences: Actively take part in
group work, discussion or giving speech about a reality music competition show on TV.
- Have abilities to deal with the kinds of related exercises and be confident when speaking
about this topic.
- Improve speaking and reading skills when doing the tasks:
+ Reading skills: skimming for main ideas and scanning for specific information
when reading about famous TV music show.
+ Speaking skills: discussing and talking about other TV music show:Vietnam Idol.
3. Quality: During the lesson, students should be able to:
- Respect other people: Have good attitude to work together/ coorperate; respect and have
right and friendly attitudes with friends, teachers in the new lesson.
- Be eager to learn: be interested in learning English, tend to apply what they have learned in
real situations
- Be responsible: take responsibility to do the duty, get ready and voluntarily do the exercises,
recognize different musical shows.

A. WARM UP: Guessing GAME “WHO ARE THEY ?” (5 minutes)

of the lesson by watching a music video and guessing from a clue.
