exploring the relationship between the application of artificial intelligence and

democratic activity
Consequential to a series of innovations, a technologically driven epoch marked by the
creation of Artificial Intelligence was birthed. With the increasing involvement of AI in all
spheres of human life, there came a point of intersection between Human Rights and AI. At
times the use of AI has boosted the machinery to protect human rights, convincing people to
think about expanding its presence in human life. At other times it has caused gross violations
of human rights, forcing masses throughout the globe to raise concerns to curtail its present
entanglement in our lives. By limiting the control that AI could have on democratic processes
we can stop the expansion of AI in everyday human life to a large extent. Bundage, et all. say
that doing so would be the most practical as it limits the interaction between the two to a
large extent.

Artificial Intelligence being based upon Human Intelligence sometimes clones the already
existing lacuna, amplifying the complications. If these perplexities continue, human rights
would be injured, adversely impacting mankind.

This paper aims to present the enormous ways in which AI has impacted the sphere of
Human Rights and the many horizons arising out of it. Also, the paper aims to give an
overview of how these issues are being addressed and how treaties and conventions at a
global level are being agreed upon to amend and employ AI to best serve human needs.
The focal point of the paper will be AI and its impact on democracy.
