What is It
A map is an image or representation of an area or place. It is used to
describe and show the exact locations of things and places in a community or
in the world.
To distinguish places and things in a map, signs and symbols are used.
Symbols that are also called map keys are used in maps to indicate real
objects or characteristics which help everyone to interpret and correlate the
map in the real world.
A compass rose is a symbol on a map that is used to display the
orientation of the cardinal directions (north, east, south, and west) and their
immediate points.
