Even couch potatoes get rich.

Working from home is becoming more commonplace. Data released in 2018 from Indeed found that about
workers says their company has a policy allowing remote work. And data from Gallup revealed that from 2
percentage of employees working at least some of the time remotely rose to 43% of employees, from 39%
spending more time than ever working from home.

Part of this is that companies are realizing that “flexible scheduling and work-from-home opportunities play
an employee's decision to take or leave a job,” the 2017 Gallup report revealed. Plus, businesses see that
real estate costs by letting people work from home sometimes, the report adds.

Of course, many jobs that let you do the bulk of the work remotely can be low paying — but not always. H

Senior medical writer. In this job, you might work for a healthcare or pharmaceutical company writing res
medical documents related to a disease, illness or drug. You usually need medical and health knowledge a

says Glassdoor community expert Scott Dobroski. The average salary is over $100,000and can go even h
experienced workers. Even better: “The demand for medical writing is growing steadily in pharmaceutical
communication market,” research shows.

Back-end web developer. Back-end web developers deal with the code and other technology that a user
never see but that keeps the site running and functional. And the job prospects are numerous, according t
site FlexJobs. Plus, the pay is typically just under six figures (though many make more) and job growth thr
27%, which the government notes is “much faster than average.” Dobroski says employers for this job typ
bachelor’s degree but may not always require one.

Sales director. Sales directors help craft sales plans and manage salespeople and rake in over $100,000
sometimes significantly more. These jobs are plentiful — a search on job site Indeed.com for work-from-ho
director jobs paying six figures or more reveals more than 100 listings currently looking for people — and a
variety of fields. Plus, even sales director jobs that require some in-office time often have flexibility in when
you come into the office, as you’ll often be out in the field meeting clients, says Dobroski. Typically a bache
and plenty of sales and management experience is required to land this job; and employers also look for g
and interpersonal skills, says Brie Reynolds, senior career specialist at FlexJobs.com.

Consultant. If you have specialized knowledge and skills in your field — be it IT, management, media or s
— you can market your skills as a consultant. For example, if you’re a media professional who knows how
