2024 Math Count Rules and Regulations
OF THE PHILIPPINES
TERTIARY LEVEL, INC.
A. The MATH COUNT 2024 is an interscholastic contest sponsored by the Mathematics Teachers
Association of the Philippines-Tertiary Level Chapter (MTAP-TL) in partnership with NBS College and
Canon Calculators PH. Its main objective is to promote mathematics in different fields among college students
(currently enrolled as of the date of the contest).
C. The contest will be divided into two categories: individual and team. The team shall be composed of three (3)
members and one (1) alternate. Each university can field at least one team, consisting of three members and
one alternate, with calculators provided for use during final round of the contest.
Open to all curriculum years and topics covered are College and Advanced Algebra, Mathematics in the
Modern World, Trigonometry, Analytic and Solid Geometry, Calculus, Number Theory and Statistics and
Probability.
II. PROCEDURE
A. ELIMINATION ROUND
1. The elimination round will be conducted on May 18 (Saturday), 9:30 AM, at NBS College.
Contestants are required to be at the contest site fifteen (15) minutes before the scheduled time.
Each contestant is required to bring his or her pens. Calculators are not allowed during this round.
Contestants will be required to present school ID's for proper identification.
2. This round shall be written contest, which will be taken by all team members individually including
the alternates. This examination will be administered for 2 hours. All questions are problem solving
type.
3. The team standing shall be based on the average score of the member in the said examination. The top
ten (10) scoring teams will qualify for the final round as a team in the TEAM Category and the top
ten (10) individuals will qualify for the final round in the INDIVIDUAL Category.
4. Cheating and other forms of dishonesty will not be tolerated. Anyone caught shall automatically
disqualify his team from the contest.
B. FINAL ROUND
1. The final round will be conducted May 18 (Saturday), 1:00 PM. Contestants are required to be at the
contest site fifteen (15) minutes before the scheduled time. Calculators are allowed and will be
provided for use.
2. The contest is divided into three rounds namely: Easy, Average and Difficult. Each round will consist
of ten questions in different subject area. Each question will be worth 7, 10, and 15 respectively.
3. The individual/team with the highest accumulated scores in the three rounds will be the champion.
4. In case of a tie, a tie-breaking question shall be asked until the tie is broken.
III. PROTESTS
Individual Category:
First Place: Php 5,000.00
Second Place: Php 3,000.00
Third Place: Php 1,000.00
Team Category:
First Place: Php 15,000.00
Second Place: Php 10,000.00
Third Place: Php 5,000.00
V. REQUIREMENTS:
A. Registration fee of Three Hundred Pesos (Php300.00)/contestant. (Fee includes certificate of participation and
lunch).

D. School Registration Card for the Second Semester, A.Y. 2023-2024
