PHYSICS EXTRAORDINARY GUIDE.

8th GRADE

Challenge 1 Session 7
Distance (d). Is the total length of the traveled path.

Displacement (Δ) is determined by calculating the difference between the final and initial
position in a straight line for an object in motion.

Displacement= final position- initial position

Challenge 1 session 16
ACCELERATION
The velocity of a body can increase or decrease. This change in its velocity in a given time is
known as acceleration. Acceleration can be either positive or negative. If the velocity increases,
the acceleration has a positive sign. If the velocity decreases, the acceleration has a negative
sign, and it is called deceleration. Its units are m/s2

Challenge 3 Session 13 Kinetic Energy
Challenge 3. Session 14 Types of potential energy
Challenge 4 Session 10. Density
FORMULAS
s= d/t

PROBLEMS
Challenge 1 session 9
1. Myriam wants to travel to Hermosillo, Sonora, which is 1707.7km away from Monterrey. How
long will it take to get there if she is traveling in a bus at 115km/hr?
DATA. FORMULA. SUBSTITUTION ANSWER
d= 1707km. s= d/t. t= d/s. It will take 14.84h
s= 115km t= 1707km/115km
t= 14.84h
2. A man walks 20 km in 4 hours. Find his speed
