River water sample testing
ABSTRACT
River water sample testing is the process of analyzing water samples collected from rivers to assess
their quality and detect any contaminants or pollutants that may be present in the water. The
purpose of this study is to determine the quality of river water samples collected from different
locations and to identify the sources of pollution in order to develop strategies to manage them.
The samples were collected from various locations along the river and tested for pH, temperature,
dissolved oxygen, biochemical oxygen demand, nitrate, phosphate, and total suspended solids. The
results of the tests were then compared to national standards for drinking water and river water
quality.
The study found that the quality of the water samples varied greatly depending on the location of
the sample. Some samples met national standards for drinking water, while others contained high
levels of pollutants such as nitrogen and phosphorus. Additionally, the study identified several
potential sources of pollution, including agricultural runoff, residential and industrial waste, and
stormwater runoff.
Overall, this study highlights the importance of monitoring and testing river water samples to
maintain water quality and protect human and environmental health. It also demonstrates the need
for targeted pollution management strategies in order to reduce the impact of pollution on our
natural water resources.

River water sample testing
Chapter -1
Introduction
Water quality is measured by several factors, such as the concentration of dissolved oxygen, bacteria
levels, the amount of salt (or salinity), or the amount of material suspended in the water (turbidity). In
some bodies of water, the concentration of microscopic algae and quantities of pesticides, herbicides,
heavy metals, and other contaminants may also be measured to determine water quality.
Although scientific measurements are used to define water quality, it is not a simple thing to say “that
water is good” or “that water is bad.” So, the determination is typically made relative to the purpose of
the water – is it for drinking or to wash a car with or for some other purpose?
Poor water quality can pose a health risk for people. Poor water quality can also pose a health risk for
ecosystems.

Literature Survey
Bacteriological tests: generally check for indicator bacteria (for example, total coliform, fecal
coliform or Escherichia coli) and can indicate the presence or absence of disease-causing bacteria.
However, there are many types of bacteriological tests that cover a variety of bacteria. These tests are
costly and are conducted only if they are absolutely essential.

Capstone Project Planning (CPP)
PROPOSAL
Introduction: - River basin has been a major source of water supply for manypurposes and provides fertile lands, which support the devel-
opment of highly populated residential areas due to its favor-able conditions . Human settlements andindustries have long been concentrated
along rivers, estuaries, and coastal zones owing to the predominance of water-bornetrade. A river’s water quality is the composite of
severalinterrelated compounds, which are subjected to local and tem-poral variations and also affected by the volume of water flow . Rivers
constitute the main inland waterbody for domestic, industrial, and agricultural activities andoften carry large municipal sewage, industrial
wastewater dis-charges, and seasonal runoff from an agricultural field
Objective/application/outcome: - In this project we are going to study about the different types of of water sample test , how the sample are
collected and benifit of water sample test
Methodology: -
