End-Users: Improved waste management and drainage systems directly benefit the
community by reducing health risk and mitigating flooding.
The barangay's waste management and drainage system project intends to address issues
related to development, health concerns, and damage to the environment that are made worse
by the effects of climate change and rapid population increase. It is clear from community
meetings that resolving these concerns is essential to enhancing public health, protecting the
environment, and guaranteeing the barangay's sustainable growth.
Objectives:
The objective of this project is to Reduce the effects of flooding incidents by putting in place
efficient stormwater management and drainage systems. Encourage the preservation of the
environment by implementing recycling programs, appropriate waste disposal techniques, and
pollution control measures.
Review Literature:
The urgent problem of flooding and waterlogging in low-lying areas of Nepal's fast expanding
towns is examined in this chapter. This problem is made worse by inadequate solid waste
management procedures and the effects of climate change, such as heavy rainfall events. The
chapter emphasizes the significance of effective solid waste management in reducing the risk of
flooding, using the metropolitan city of Bharatpur as a case study. It also investigates how well
trash cans placed on public spaces and informational campaigns to support cleaner cities work.
The chapter also provides a numerical estimate of the advantages cleaner communities could
provide for cities, including higher property values.

Methodology:
Through detailed needs assessments, stakeholder participation, and data collecting, the project
executes a comprehensive methodology to address flooding, waterlogging, and solid waste
management. It also identifies critical obstacles and community goals. Campaigns to
disseminate information and create infrastructure are intended to encourage cleaner urban
settings, and household surveys are intended to determine the financial feasibility of better
waste management. Implementation is guided by financial analysis, policy recommendations,
and ongoing monitoring, which promotes long-term solutions. Long-term success is ensured by
capacity building programs that enable local stakeholders to manage trash efficiently and
improve urban resilience against the effects of climate change.
