My Big Idea

Big Idea
The work I create and develop creates a sense of escapism for me, as I enjoy drawing
fantasy environments and character designs of another time and world. When my life
grows difficult and things become too treacherous for me to comprehend, my
imagination takes over and I perceive a world unlike our own. My three pieces focus on
exploring that sense of escapism, illustrating ancient ruins lost to overgrowth, an elder
tree stretching upwards as high as a skyscraper in the underbrush of a forest, and my
own character in a poster illustration after the events that recently occurred in the story
that’s written of her. Each of these illustrations is a moment in time in these stories I
occupy my mind with, letting me slip away to a fantasy world and
escape life’s difficulties while still challenging myself in my artwork.

Artist Inspiration - Astri Lohne

Astri Lohne has been one of my biggest inspirations for what I wish I could achieve
with my work. While she doesn’t focus on illustration with Ink, her digital paintings
hold a sense of escapism with beautiful compositions and fantasy aspects being
included among her work. The simplicity of her backgrounds create a wondrous
atmosphere that tells hundreds of different stories up for interpretation in a single
image. Her color schemes are always beautiful and I want to keep working on my
work independently to achieve a similar level of skill.
