How important is it to preserve the uniqueness of Philippine culture?

Philippine culture is important to preserve its uniqueness because even tourists love
Philippines; I believe that Filipino culture is visible and admirable globally which it is seen by
our way of life, cultural beliefs, traditions, rituals, and values. As a Filipino citizen, family is
very important and it is part of our culture that no matter you aged, we must live with our parents
until we’re married, and I think it is commendable. Religion also plays a big role in our culture;
most Filipino people are Christ-centered. Even in Celebrations, we’re very particular to celebrate
even it is a simple event like a grade school graduation, birthdays, career promotions, or a feast
day for a patron saint, and it’s part of our culture.
What do you think are the driving forces of cultural change in the world today?
I think it’s technology, as we can see in today’s generation, we’re dependent on
technology. It has lots of advantages in our way of living but it is also a hindrance to our culture.
E.g., “Harana” is one of our courtship tradition but in today’s situation couples court each other
through social media applications and by texting with each other. Anyhow, technology made our
life easy. Yet, “Harana” is one of the best tradition and it will be missed in today’s generation.
