Poverty In The Philippines

Poverty is one of the greatest issues that our country, The Philippines, has to
overcome. Poverty is a widespread and complex issue that affects people around the
world. In the Philippines, 18.1% of the population lived below the national poverty line in
2021. Poverty is characterized by the lack of access to resources and opportunities,
leading to a lower standard of living and a lack of the ability to meet the basic needs of
an individual or a family. One of the causes of poverty is the lack of job opportunities, it
can lead to hunger, poor health, and eventually malnourishment. Many children are
unable to continue their education because of poverty, the need to provide for
themselves and their families drives them to prioritize income over education. Many
individuals who grew up in poverty lack the basic needs for survival and growth like
food, shelter, medical care, and education.
How can we solve or lessen this problem that our country has?
Spread awareness. Support the organizations that put effort into reducing poverty. Like,
social welfare programs, UNDP (United Nations Development Programme), UNICEF
(United Nations Children's Fund), etc. The need to change has to come from us first,
take the first step. This problem will not be solved by itself, we need to take action and
help our country to prosper.
