5. Specify a location where your new helicopter group


will start.
5.1. Starting on an airfield or a FARP
5.1.1. Click at the location of the airfield or FARP on
the map.

5.1.2. Set the properties of your new helicopter


group:
• Change the group Type to “UH-1H” (see #1 and #2).
• Give the group a Name if you wish.
• Ensure the group’s Country is correct.
• Changing the group’s Task will automatically select its
payload.
• Changing the second Unit number will alter the number of
airframes in the group.
• Change the Skill to either Player or Client for a human-
controlled group, or set the AI skill level.
• Set any other properties you need.

5.1.3. Choose one of the “Takeoff” options for your


first waypoint; otherwise, your helicopter group will
start in the air.

5.2. Starting on a carrier


5.2.1. Click the Add or modify ship group button

5.2.2. Click in the sea where you want the carrier to


start.
5.2.3. Clicking the Show Models button (#2) will
depict the carrier as a top-down 3D model.

6. Set the payload. Click the Payload tab (#1) and right-
click on each station to change the loadout (#2).

Note: For multi-crew gunner positions, you must load


the M134D or M60 on stations 3 and/or 4.

In addition, you can use this tab to set the amount of


internal fuel (Internal Fuel slider), the amount of chaff
and flares, and the rope length (for sling-load
operations).

7. Save the mission by choosing File ▶ Save As.

For multiplayer missions with multiple crewable helicopters, it is necessary to set the Skill
level of all crewable helicopters to Client (not Player).

STARTING A MULTIPLAYER SESSION


1. Hosting a multiplayer session
1.1. From the main menu, choose Multiplayer.

1.2. Click New Server.

1.3. Configure the server:


• Change the server name (#1).
• Set a server password if necessary (#2).
• Add one or more missions mission (#3). Clicking this opens the
Mission Explorer window.
• Select a mission (#4).
• Start the server (#5).

1.4. At the “Select role” screen, choose the helicopter


and seat you wish to occupy (#1), then click Briefing
(#2).

1.5. Once you are ready, click Fly.

1.6. You will appear in your selected helicopter, at your


chosen seat.

2. Joining a multiplayer session


2.1. Locate the host’s server (#1) and choose Join (#2).

2.2. Enter the password chosen by the host, if


required.

2.3. Join as pilot


2.3.1. Select the “Pilot” slot for the helicopter you
wish to fly, then click Briefing.

2.4. Join as copilot


2.4.1. Select the “Pilot2” slot for the helicopter you
wish to crew, then click Briefing.

Note: The “Player” column indicates which players have occupied


which roles.
2.5. If the “Pilot” slot for that helicopter is occupied by
another player:
• The copilot will see a “Pending request” dialog.
• The pilot will have the opportunity to accept or deny the multi-
crew request.

2.6. If the pilot rejects the request, the copilot will see
a “Denied” message.

2.7. If the pilot approves the request, the copilot will


see an “Access granted” message.

2.8. When ready, choose Briefing.

2.9. When ready, choose Fly.

2.10. You will join in the copilot position, and within a


few seconds, see a message confirming that you
joined the crew.

2.11. The pilot will see a message confirming that you


joined the crew.

REQUESTING AND TRANSFERRING CONTROL


In the example below, the pilot is named “DCS_1_Station” and the copilot is named “DCS_2_Station”.

1. If the copilot wishes to request control, they can


press the C key. A message will be sent to the pilot.

2. The pilot will receive a message, and can then allow


or deny the request.

3. If the pilot rejects the request, the copilot will see a


message indicating that the pilot still has control.

4. If the pilot approves the request, the copilot will see a


message indicating they have control.

5. If the pilot approves the request, they will see a


message confirming that the copilot took control from
them.

6. At any time, the pilot can retake control from the


copilot by pressing C . The copilot is not asked to
approve this request. In this case:

6.1. The pilot will see a message confirming that they


have control again.

6.2. The copilot will see a message indicating that the


pilot has retaken control.

The pilot who does not have control may assume a gunner position at any time, if the
helicopter was loaded with crewed guns. To do so, press the 3 (Left Gunner’s Crew Station)
or 4 key (Right Gunner’s Crew Station).

Note: This feature is a work in progress. Currently only two players can crew a helicopter. In
the future, it will be possible for up to 4 players to man the pilot, copilot, and both gunner
positions.
