PLAN Ancheta Area
Teaching date and Feb. 13, 2024 Quarter 3rd Quarter
time 7:45 – 11:00

Content Standard: The learners demonstrate an understanding of the organisms as

having feedback mechanisms, which are coordinated by the nervous and endocrine systems;
how these feedback mechanisms help the organism maintain homeostasis to reproduce and
survive.
Performance Standard:
Learning Competency: The learners should be able to explain the role of hormones
involved in the female and male reproductive systems (S10LT-IIIb-34)
I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the learners should be able to:
a.) identify the key hormones secreted by the female reproductive system;
b.) determine the roles of hormones secreted by the female reproductive system;
and
c.) appreciate the importance of hormones in the female reproductive system.

II. Subject Matter

Topic: Roles of Hormones in the Female Reproductive System

IV. Procedure

TEACHER ACTIVITY STUDENT ACTIVITY

a. Greetings
May I request everyone to please stand up and let
us pray? Who wants to lead the prayer?

Okay Luna, lead the prayer. (Student leads the prayer)

Thank you for leading our prayer.

Good morning class! Before we begin with our Good morning, Ma’am.
discussion, please pick up the trash under your
chair and in front of you. If you are finish, please
go back to your proper seat.

b. Checking of Attendance
Let us check our attendance for today.
Is there any absent in the class? None, ma’am.

Very good, class. Everyone is present today.

Reviewing the previous lesson
(ELICIT – 5 minutes)

What was our topic yesterday? Ma’am, our topic yesterday was the roles of
hormones in the male reproductive system.
Very good. What hormone is responsible for male development
and behaviour, and also a male sex hormone? Ma’am, the hormone is responsible for
male development and behaviour, and also
a male sex hormone is the testosterone.

Excellent. What disorder is called when male breast tissue swells Ma’am, gynecomastia is a disorder that
and becomes larger than normal? causes male breast tissue to swell and
becomes larger than normal.
Correct answer.

Establishing a purpose (motivation)

(ENGAGE – 10 minutes)

Before we proceed, kindly read aloud our objectives.

At the end of the lesson, the learners should be able to:

a.) the key hormones secreted by the female reproductive
system;
b.) determine the roles of hormones secreted by the
female reproductive system; and
c.) appreciate the importance of hormones in the female
reproductive system.

Let us have an activity. All you have to do is to match the picture

by placing celebrities’ then and now photos to each other. Just
raise your hand if you want to answer, okay? Yes, Ma’am.

Activity 1: Who’s Who?

How did you recognize the pictures? Ma’am, we recognize the picture based on
the features of their face.

Very good. What are some changes when they grew old? Ma’am, some changes are the shape of their
face and their breast.

Correct. So why do you think these changes happen? These changes happen because of the
hormone called estrogen.
Very good. As we grow old, we experienced physical changes in
our body. This is because of the hormone called estrogen.

Discussing new concepts and practicing new skills

(EXPLORE – 10 minutes)

Let us continue what we have watched yesterday. Bring out your

notebook and pen and take note of the important information.

Lesson 3: The Role of Hormones in Female and Male

Reproductive Systems

Class, do you remember the hormones responsible for the Yes, Ma’am.
production of male sex cells?

And these are? These are gonadotropin releasing hormone,

follicle-stimulating hormone, leutinizing
hormone, and testosterone.
Very good. These hormones are stimulated by the hypothalamus.

If the FSH and LH in males are released into the testes, how Ma’am, FSH and LH are released into the
about in the females? ovary.

Good answer.

Okay, let us have another activity.

Directions: Write MEN if the physical change happens in male.
Write WOMAN if the physical change happens in female. And
write REPRODUCTIVE if it happens to both.
Answer
1. Change in the pitch or tone of the voice. 1. REPRODUCTIVE
2. Having menstruation. 2. WOMEN
3. Wider hips. 3. WOMEN
4. Presence of adam’s apple. 4. MEN
5. Ejection of milk from breast. 5. WOMEN
6. Broader shoulder. 6. MEN
7. Faster growth. 7. REPRODUCTIVE
8. Hair appears in private parts of the body. 8. REPRODUCTIVE
9. Develop breasts. 9. WOMEN
10. Pimples may appear. 10. REPRODUCTIVE

Developing mastery leads to assessment

(EXPLAIN – 15 minute)
To better understand the roles of hormones in the female
reproductive system, these are the terms mentioned in the video
and its function.

We discussed yesterday that the hypothalamus helps to produce

hormones by producing GnRH or the gonadotropin releasing
hormones in the male reproductive system. In the case of female
reproductive system, it’s the same.

Steps:
1. The GnRH from the hypothalamus stimulates the pituitary
gland to release the hormones FSH and LH into the ovaries.
2. The LH and FSH stimulate the ovaries to produce estrogen
and progesterone.
 Estrogen – hormone that regulates the menstrual
cycle
- also responsible for the secondary
characteristics of females (e.g. breast
development, widening of the hips, and
shorter period necessary for bone
maturation)
 Progesterone – hormone that supports pregnancy.
During pregnancy, these two work together and are
responsible for the changes that take place during pregnancy.
3. In addition, FSH stimulates development of egg cells called
ova, which develop in structures called follicles.
4. Follicle cells produce the hormone inhibin, which inhibits the
release of FSH.
Finding practical applications of concepts and skills in daily living
(ELABORATE - 10 minutes)

Always remember that hormones play an important role in both

male and female reproductive systems.

With the help of the hypothalamus, the pituitary gland controls

the functions of both testes and the ovaries. These hormones give
the reproductive system properly functioning.

Now let us proceed to the disorder due to the hormonal

imbalance in the female reproductive system.

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome – a condition where you have few,

unusual or very long periods. It often results in having too much
of a male hormone called androgen. This leads to infertility.

So again, what are the different roles of hormones in the Ma’am, the different roles of hormones in
reproductive system? the reproductive system is for the
development of secondary characteristics
and plays an important role in fertility,
pregnancy, and the menstrual cycle.

Good answer. Why do we need to know the roles of hormones in We need to know the roles of hormones in
our body? our body because it helps to control many
body functions, such as growth, repair, and
reproduction.
Very good. Give yourself a round of applause.

Evaluating Learning- By pair quiz

(EVALUATE- 10 minutes)

To test your learning, let us have an evaluation.

Directions: Write the word of the correct answer.

Answer
1. It is a hormone that stimulates egg release during ovulation. 1. Luteinizing Hormone
2. Lindsay has started having well-developed breasts and some 2. Estrogen
growth of pubic hair. What hormone is responsible for this 3. Estrogen
change? 4. Progesterone
3. It is a hormone that regulates the menstrual cycle. 5. Hypothalamus
4. It is a hormone that supports pregnancy.
5. With the help of this, the pituitary gland can control the
functions of both testes and the ovaries.
Additional activities (homework)
(EXTEND – 5 minutes)

For your assignment, write the benefits of family planning in

promoting a healthy and happy life.

That’s all for today, class. I hope you learned and enjoyed our
lesson. Goodbye, everyone. See you in our next discussion. Goodbye, Maa’am.
