DISCOVERY; A CATHOLIC YOUTH FORMATION

PROGRAM

Knowing Oneself:

Objectives:
 Develop self-awareness by identifying personal strengths,
weaknesses, values, and beliefs.
 Recognize the influence of emotions on behavior and cultivate
emotional intelligence.
 Set realistic short-term and long-term goals and create strategies for
achieving them.
 Understand the importance of self-care practices for maintaining
mental, emotional, and physical well-being.

Definition and importance of self-awareness
Activities to explore personal strengths, weaknesses, values,
and beliefs
Session 2: Emotions and Identity
Understanding emotions and their influence on behavior
Exploring personal identity and its development
Session 3: Goal Setting
Setting short-term and long-term goals
Strategies for achieving goals and overcoming obstacles
Session 4: Self-care and Well-being
Importance of self-care for mental, emotional, and physical
health
Practices for self-care: mindfulness, exercise, healthy
relationships, etc.
2. Catholic Spirituality:
 Gain an understanding of the basic beliefs and practices of
Catholicism.
 Learn various forms of prayer and meditation techniques to
deepen personal spirituality.
 Appreciate the significance of the sacraments in Catholic
tradition and reflect on their relevance in personal faith
journey.
 Apply principles of Catholic social teaching to contemporary
issues and develop a sense of social responsibility.

Session 1: Introduction to Catholicism


Basic beliefs and practices of Catholicism
Importance of spirituality in Catholic tradition
Session 2: Prayer and Meditation
Different forms of prayer: liturgical, contemplative, devotional,
etc.
Techniques for meditation and quiet reflection
Session 3: Sacraments
Explanation of the seven sacraments and their significance
Personal reflection on the sacraments in one's life
Session 4: Catholic Social Teaching
Core principles of Catholic social teaching: human dignity,
solidarity, subsidiarity, etc.
Applying Catholic social teaching to contemporary issues
Session 5: Introduction to Catholic Morality and Ethics
This session will focus on the teachings of the Catholic Church
when it comes to Catholic Morality and Ethics and how can it
be applied in the world that we live in today.
3. Human Sexuality and Theology of the Body:
OBJECTIVES
 Understand the components of human sexuality and
recognize the influence of culture on sexual attitudes and
behaviors.
 Familiarize oneself with the theology of the body and its
implications for understanding human sexuality and
relationships.
 Embrace the virtue of chastity and cultivate healthy
boundaries and communication skills in relationships.
 Reflect on how one's sexuality relates to their vocation in
life and discern vocations in light of Catholic teachings.
