( AS DEFINED IN ISO/IEC D IRECTIVES , P ART 2, 14):
The aim of this document is to prepare a new part of the IEC 61000-4 series, regarding immunity
requirements and test methods for broadband radiated disturbance. The goal of this new part is to
evaluate the interference caused by broadband digital modulation signals in the test frequency
band, along with reducing the time for testing the electromagnetic immunity to this phenomena in
the frequency range of above 80 MHz. For examples of broadband signal, there are LTE signals
and 5G mobile communication signals.
Modern digital communication signals operate on multiple frequencies (such as OFDM) and use
bandwidths ranging from tens of MHz to hundreds of MHz, all while employing in-band time-division
multiplexing (TDM) transmission technology. Such broadband signals could cause a performance
degradation and/or malfuction of other equipment. In this case, the disturbance is not a frequency
sweep but a broadband signal with coexisting multiple frequencies.
