Real time heart beat detection using Deep Convolutional Neural Network (DeepCNN)
research study introduces a novel approach for real-time heart rate detection using Deep
Convolutional Neural Networks (DeepCNN), with a focus on pre-processing facial data. The
method harnesses the power of DeepCNN to analyze raw facial data captured by wearable
sensors and accurately detect heartbeats in real-time. By leveraging feature extraction

CHAPTER 4
METHODOLOGY
Description: In this module, the system collects raw heart rate data from
sensors. This could be in the form of ECG signals or PPG signals. The
acquired data often contains noise and artifacts that need to be removed to
ensure accurate analysis. Filtering techniques are applied to remove noise, and
normalization techniques are used to standardize the data for further
processing. The output of this module is preprocessed heart rate data, which is
ready for feature extraction.

4.1.3 Deep CNN Model Training Module:
Description: The focus of this module is to train a deep CNN model capable of
detecting heartbeat patterns. The extracted features serve as inputs to the CNN
architecture, which is trained using labeled data (e.g., normal heartbeat,
abnormal heartbeat). The training process involves iteratively adjusting the
model parameters to minimize a loss function, typically using optimization
algorithms like SGD or Adam. The output of this module is a trained CNN
model capable of detecting heartbeat patterns.

4.3 CREATING USER INTERFACE
Database
To enable real-time heart beat detection using DeepCNN, the first crucial step in data
preprocessing involves collecting and curating a dataset of electrocardiogram (ECG) signals.
These signals should be pre-processed by applying noise reduction techniques, such as
filtering out baseline wander and powerline interference. Subsequently, feature extraction
techniques can be applied to capture relevant patterns in the ECG signals, such as R-peaks,
using algorithms like the Pan-Tompkins method. Moreover, data augmentation techniques
can be employed to increase the diversity of the dataset and improve the generalization
capabilities of the DeepCNN model. Finally, the pre-processed ECG signals can be fed into
the DeepCNN model for training and validation. This approach ensures the reliability and
efficiency of real-time heart beat detection, paving the way for potential applications in
healthcare monitoring systems.
Security
To train a DeepCNN model for real-time heartbeat detection, start by preparing a labeled
dataset of ECG signals. Preprocess the data by normalizing and segmenting it into fixed-
length windows. Design a DeepCNN architecture with convolutional and pooling layers to
extract relevant features from the ECG signals. Train the model using a gradient-based
optimizer such as Adam and a suitable loss function like categorical cross-entropy. Validate

the model performance on a separate test set to ensure generalization. Fine-tune
hyperparameters like learning rate and batch size to optimize model performance. Finally,
evaluate the trained DeepCNN model on unseen ECG signals in real-time to detect heartbeats

step in the process. begins with the phase of requirement collecting, also known as the

The above fig 6.1 table presents the performance metrics of the DeepCNN model used for
real-time heartbeat detection. Accuracy (98.2%) measures the percentage of real outcomes
out of all the cases that were looked at. The percentage of anticipated positives that are
actually positive is shown by precision (97.4%).The model's recall (96.3%) measures its
capacity to locate every pertinent example in the dataset. In situations when one of the two
may be more significant than the other, the F1 score (96.7%), which is the harmonic mean of

The DeepCNN-based system for real-time heartbeat detection can be further enhanced in a
number of ways in subsequent research. First, more thorough testing can be done to confirm
how well the suggested method performs on bigger and more varied datasets, such as datasets
with various cardiac states and noise levels. This will assist in evaluating the system's
robustness and generalization. Second, by experimenting with various network configurations
—such as altering the quantity of layers, filters, and neuron units—the DeepCNN's design
can be made even more efficient. Modifying these parameters may improve heart beat
detection's precision and effectiveness. In addition, the integration of additional sophisticated
deep learning methods, including attention mechanisms or recurrent neural networks (RNNs),

can be investigated in order to capture significant characteristics and temporal relationships in
the heartbeat patterns. Finally, to offer a complete health monitoring solution, the system can
be expanded to include real-time physiological signal monitoring and analysis, such as blood
