Part 1 – Probability Distributions

On average, 243 students per day come to the mensa to eat. If the mensa team wants to
know the probability that at least 300 students come to the mensa on a given day, which
probability distribution should they use?

Poisson Distribution

Binomial Distribution

Normal Distribution

t-Distribution

At NG, 20% of all employees are international (non-Albanian). If you randomly select 10
NG employees and you want to know the probability that 2 of the 10 employees are
international, which probability distribution should they use?

Poisson Distribution

Binomial Distribution

Normal Distribution

t-Distribution

You want to start a basketball team for which you need tall people. Assume the average
height of people in Pogradec is 1.78 m with a standard deviation of 0.05 m. Now you are
interested in finding a person that is at least 1.95 m tall. You wonder what the probability
is that a randomly selected person from Pogradec is at least 1.95 m tall. Which probability
distributions should you use?

Which parameter in a Normal Distribution determines its width?

Standard Deviation

Mean

Maximum Point

The exponential function e

Part 3 – t-tests
A restaurant claims to have a weekly income of 1.000.000 lek. A financial audit tracks the
income of that restaurant for 7 weeks and finds an average income of 1.200.000 lek. Now
the financial audit wants to know if the deviation between their average value and the
restaurant’s value is coincidence. Which t-test should they use?

Paired t-test

One Sample t-test

Two-sample t-test

A new restaurant wants to find out if their income is larger on holidays compared to
normal days. They analyze the records of 100 normal days and find an average income of
100.000 lek. Furthermore, they analyze 10 holidays and find an average income of 120.000
lek. They want to know if the observed difference between income on normal days and
holidays is coincidence. Which t-test should they perform?

Paired t-test

One Sample t-test

Two-sample t-test
A restaurant tracks the number of customers for each day of one month. The next month
they start a new marketing campaign and track the number of customers on each day
while running the marketing campaign. Now the restaurant wants to know if differences
between customer numbers for each day of a month are related to the marketing
campaign or just coincidence.

Which t-test should they perform?
