Piper Aircraft Corporation Lock Haven, Pennsylvania, U.S.A.

“FAA DOA SO-1 Approved” June 27, 1975 S

Subject: Carburetor Air Box Modification.

Models Affected: Serial Numbers Affected:

PA-28-151 Cherokee Warrior 28-7415001 to 28-7515425 Inclusive

Compliance Time : Within the next 50 hours of operation, or at the next

regularly scheduled inspection time period, whichever
occurs first.

Purpose: Reports from the field indicate that the carburetor

heat control can stick in the full “ON” or the full
“OFF” position due to insufficient dimensional tol-
erance between the air valve and the housing. This
condition can result in either a reduction of available
power due to an excessive rich condition (if the control
is stuck in the full “ON” position), or carburetor icing
and subsequent loss of power (if stuck in the full “OFF”
position). This release provides material and information
to modify the carburetor air box assembly in order to
preclude this condition and increase the serviceability
of the system.
