Respiration is the process by which the energy in food is made available for a cell to do
the work necessary to keep it alive. Also, in both plants and animals, the type of food
from which energy is releases is usually glucose and carbon dioxide are released as a
waste product of respiration. This is the importance of respiration.

2. a)glucose+oxygenenergy+carbon dioxide+water
C6H12O6+6O2energy+6Co2+6H2O

b) energy is released when glucose combines with water. During aerobic respiration,
glucose is broken down completely into carbon dioxide and water. At each step in the
breakdown of glucose, energy is released. This is used to convert a chemical called
adenosine diphosphate into adenosine triphosphate and each molecule of ATP acts like a
packet of energy. It is how energy is stored

c)Three advantages are: 1) the energy can be released from ATP wherever and whenever
it is required in a cell
2)the energy can be used to drive many chemical reactions rapidly
3)energy can be released rapidly

3. Respiration is the process by which energy in food is made available for a cell to do the
work necessary to grow, move, reproduce, respond etc. In humans, food eaten is
digested and absorbed into the bloodstream and the end products of digestion
eventually reach all the body cells which is how food and oxygen get into the respiring
cells. Energy is released when glucose combines with oxygen and if you don’t have the
glucose from the food to combine with the oxygen for energy to be released, you won’t
have enough energy except stored energy which is used up quickly and needs to be
replenished, for every cell (ATP). Calories are units of energy your body uses to function,
and everyone has specific energy requirements per day but you are not getting enough
glucose to make more energy for your body to function properly so you start to feel
weak, this is also why you should not skip meals.
