SCRIPT-AMIYA

SCENE ONE: INT. AMIYAS DANCE STUDIO – MORNING

MUSIC- INFINITE LOVE BY EMILE MOSSERI


----------------------------------------

Setting the scene multiple shots of the studio,


panning, and still shots (Natural lighting) lighting
coming from the big windows.
The opening shot- should be equipment from the
studio, SLOW, LONG shots. 1 minute long.
The music carries on throughout the different shots.

Amiya is then seen stretching and practising


different styles of dance. (different costumes)
usage of colour.

No dialogue just music.

Amiya gets more frustrated each shot, which you can


see in her expression, looking at herself in the
mirror.

TITLE – AMIYA

Amiya walks past camera with a movable mirror-


covering the whole shot revealing the title.

Scene cut.

SCENE TWO: AMIYAS HOUSE – EXT/INT – AFTERNOON

MUSIC- THE END OF THE SONG – INFINITY LOVE- EMILE


MOSSERI
-----------------------------------------------------

Ext-WIDE SHOT- Amiya arriving back at her house,


walking towards house with dance bag, hair up,
looking warn down. Close ups of face.
Int- Slamming door, walking in and throwing bag down
in the entrance, Mum is in the kitchen.

MUSIC ENDS- FADING OUT.

Amiya starts walking up the stairs, when she is


stopped by her sister walking down the stairs.
Natural lighting- slightly dark representing her
sadness.

Sister- God, what is wrong with you? (JUDGY)

Amiya- nothing (head down- not interested)

Int- Amiya’s bedroom

Amiya rushes into her room where she falls onto her
bed- lighting changes- using blues and reds, she then
turns and starts to look around her room- overhead
shot.

No dialogue- silence

Montage of Amiya walking around her room picking up


different clothes, looking in the mirror (disgusted)
Lighting keeps changing /showing her emotions.

Multiple shots, short and long.

Amiya lying in her bed, goes on her phone


notifications start popping up on the screen, people
hanging out, dance routines and competitions.

Light becomes natural- fast shot switch from bed to


door.

SCENE THREE- INT/ BEDROOM - AFTERNOON

/KNOCK AT THE DOOR/


Zoom in on the door- silence carries on.

Close up on Amiya’s face, looking scared. Mum starts


to open the bedroom door.
Mum- Amiya are you okay in there?

Amiya tries to make herself look more alive. Her mum


walks in concerned wondering what the noise is.

Amiya- nothing mum, just please leave.

Mum- what happened at dance today? stop being


silly.

Mum tries to comfort her by saying

Mum- you know your better than the other girls.

Amiya- stop mum, just leave. (getting angrier)

Amiya starts to freak out. Getting off her bed


dragging her mum out the room and slamming it in her
face. Amiya slides down the door then puts her hands
in her face.

Mum behind the door.

Mum- Amiya, just talk to me.

MUSIC STARTS TO FADE IN- SAD

SCENE FOUR- INT/ AMIYAS BEDROOM. - starting to get


dark

Montage of Amiya trying to stretch and practise her


dance routine. Failing multiple times, she doesn’t
give up draining herself out, she starts to cry.

Lighting turns blue- very slightly, not too obvious.


Closeups of her face and overlay of memories of being
happy.

Amiya screams into her pillow music in background.

SCENE CUTS
MUSIC FADES OUT - SAD
--------------------------------------

SCENE FIVE- INT/EXT- NEXT MORNING

Amiya starts getting ready for the day, walks into


the bathroom where she looks into the mirror looking,
questioning why she looks like that. Lights fading
and changing. Walking out the bathroom she looks back
on herself. After getting ready she then starts
walking downstairs where her family is eating
breakfast.

Mum- Amiya, are you having any breakfast?

Amiya walks to the kitchen and sits down, picking at


her food. Mum staring at her, close up. The sister
starts talking about what’s happening at school today
and Amiya just sits there picking, fading in and out.

Dialogue fades into a silence

Amiya stands up, grabbing her stuff and runs out the
door.

The silence of the family stays. Looking at each


other.

SCENE CUTS
--------------------------------------

SCENE SIX- EXT – WAITNING OUTSIDE DANCE STUDIO

MUSIC FADES IN- UPBEAT

New characters introduced Robyn and Charlie. They are


waiting outside studio dressed in dance clothes with
their bags, Robyn has her hair tied up. Montage of
them messing around and laughing, gossiping together.

MUSIC FADES OUT

Amiya walks past and stands alone, looking at phone


trying to ignore them.
Robyn- uno sometimes I feel bad for her

Charlie- yeh but we have tried you know what


happens

Robyn- yeh I guess so, I mean she is a bit of a


teacher’s pet.

They laugh, CLOSE UP- Amiya standing alone them in


the background.

Shot of Amiya- overlay of what she had been


practising the night before.

Robyn- I’m fed up of trying with her.

Charlie- yeh I get what you mean.

Amiya starts to walk towards them so they change the


conversation to what they are doing in their dance
class.

Robyn- are you excited for class, like I can’t


wait to work on the new choreo.

Charlie- yeh I actually can’t wait; I can’t


believe we were picked for this class.

Amiya walks straight past them. They carry on


gossiping and talking.

Dance teacher- come in guys

Robyn- come on Charlie

Robyn and Charlie walk into class, Amiya then follows


shortly after, montage of the studio.

MUSIC STARTS TO PLAY- UNITY BY QUEEN LATIFA

Dance class starts- hip-hop, they start practicing a
routine. Lighting is bright. Amiya tries pushing to
the front, making herself front and centre.

SCENE ENDS-
SCREEN TURNS BLACK

SCENE CUTS
MUSIC FADES

---------------------------------------

SCENE SEVAN- INT- AMIYAS HOUSE- AFTERNOON.

ARGUMENT SCENE

Amiya walks into the house again, slams bag and runs
up the stairs. A similar montage runs however worse.
Amiya tries ripping her face off, grabbing at her
skin in the mirror.
Throwing all her dance stuff away.
Amiya runs downstairs with bin bags of her stuff,
starts to scream.

Amiya- I quit. Dance has ruined everything.

She then carries on running up the stairs and down


grabbing more bags.

Mum runs in looking worried whilst, sister sits on


the stairs.

Mum- what’s going on, what is the matter,


tell me for God’s sake. I’m so done Amiya
I’ve tried trust me I’ve tried. Please,
please.

She tries to hold, comfort her.

Amiya- just get off me, you’re done, I’m done


mum you never understand me.

Mum- hang on what.


Amiya- you don’t care

The scene changes dramatically, the mum pauses and


stands disappointed. Silence appears.

Amiya- are you not going to say anything) she


shouts)

Mum- I care, Amiya you are a beautiful dancer


why has this happened, can’t you speak to
Robyn or someone.

Amiya- me and Robyn aren’t friends, I lied to


keep you happy. I don’t have any friends, I’m
alone, God do I even have a family.

MUSIC STARTS FADING IN- ALL I NEED BY RADIOHEAD

Amiya walks out the house very angry with her family
and life., the shot changes as she starts running
outside onto the lane. Mum is left there in shock.

SCENE CUTS

---------------------------------------

SCENE 8- EXT – RUNNING TO WOODS

NO DIALOGUE- LAUGHTER THROUGHOUT THE MUSIC,


SCREAMING.

Amiya runs to the woods, stops and then she starts


looking up and around. Freaking out she starts to see
memories of her dance classes and memories with her
family.

She begins to run again. She runs into the woods,


finding herself in an open area of the woods. She
begins to start dancing and flowing with the music,
the memories still playing. The montage carries on.
CHORUS BEGINS

----------------------------------

Lighting is begun to get darker and darker as the


night goes on.
--------

Short clips of Amiya dancing in the studio, being


left out, sitting at the breakfast table. Getting
more agitated she starts dancing towards the edge of
the woods where the motorway is. Looking in two
different directions. Trying to decide her fate. She
feels like there is nothing to live for anymore.
She gave everything to dance and now it’s gone.

A lot of wide shots whilst she is dancing in the


good. The pace of shots become more faster as she
becomes more alone and sadder.

Carries on dancing until she finds an open field next


to the motorway, FAST shots of memories and her
dancing/ running in the field towards the motorway,
she begins to look towards the camera- the audience
will hopefully realise what’s happening.

DARK NATURAL LIGHTING OUTSIDE.

MUSIC CARRIES ON GETTING LOUDER. LAST LINE BEATS OF


THE SONG.

She turns to the camera directly looking at the


camera. A truck or car goes past her whilst she is
standing still.

(She is portraying a ghost at this point as she had


already died whilst she was in the woods)

SCENE CUTS AND THE SILENCE APPEARS
