I. Title: Sustainable Agricultural Practices

Certification Program

II. Implementing Unit: DMMMSU-SLUC College of Agriculture

III. Coordinating Units: DMMMSU-SLUC

IV. Duration: 7 day (March 17-23, 2025)

25 (Farmers, Agricultural Professionals,
V. Participants: extensions agents, and students)

VI. Funding Source: DMMMSU

VII. Budget: 58,055.00

VIII. Rationale:

The Sustainable Agricultural Practices Certification Program aims to address

the growing need for environmentally friendly and economically viable agricultural
methods. With increasing concerns about food security, climate change, and the
depletion of natural resources, there’s a pressing demand for farmers to adopt
sustainable practices to ensure long-term productivity and resilience in the face of
changing environmental conditions.

IX. Objectives:

1. Educate participants about the principles and benefits of sustainable

agriculture.
2. Equip participants with practical skills and knowledge to implement
sustainable farming practices.
3. Promote the adoption of eco-friendly techniques for soil management,
pest control, water conservation, and biodiversity preservation.
4. Provide certification to participants upon completion, recognizing their
commitment to sustainable agriculture and enhancing their credibility in
the market.

X. Methodology:

1. Lecture Sessions: Expert-led lectures will cover topics such as the principles of
sustainable agriculture, agroecology, integrated pest management, soil health
management, water-efficient irrigation techniques, and biodiversity
conservation. These sessions will provide participants with a comprehensive
understanding of the theoretical aspects of sustainable farming practices.

2. Hands-on exercises: Practical workshops and demonstrations allow participants

to apply theoretical knowledge in real-word scenarios. Participants will engage
in activities such as composting, organic pest management techniques, soil
testing, and seed saving. These hands-on exercises will enhance participants
skills and confidence in implementing sustainable agricultural practices on their
farms.

3. Field trip to Farm: A field trip to a local farm will provide participants with
valuable insights into successful implementation of sustainable agricultural
practices. Participants will have the opportunity to observe firsthand various
sustainable farming techniques, interact with experienced farmers, and learn
about innovative technologies and resources available to support sustainable
agriculture. This experiential learning component will inspire and to adapt and
adopt sustainable practices on their own.
