PROGRAM PROPOSAL
II. RATIONALE
As we are witnessing the culmination of the pandemic in the Philippines and are beginning to
break the walls of social distance in favor of a closer social interaction, as we are about to start the
march in a more liberal social and educational setting, we have another opportunity to power
harmony, respect and affection to our diversed ethnic and cultural practices in view of pursuing
nationwide pursuit of progress. It is therefore timely, to revitalize our cultural commitment as an
institution into another harmonizing occasion as we renew our allegiance to one another from micro
to macro scale with the hope to enjoy a more intense reciprocating effects of love and respect to
every individual, tribe, color and nationality.
Indeed, “unity in diversity” prevailed and stayed to all of us. Thus, awareness and acceptance to
one’s culture is a start of a Good Samaritan. Nonetheless, this very special occasion renews our
awareness with the Indigenous cultures in our country. Also, strengthens the relations of the IP’s to
other cultures in adherence to the so-called cultural relativity. Under Sec. 21 Chap. V of R.A. 8371 it
states that, “…the State shall, with due recognition of their distinct characteristics and identity,
accord to the members of the ICCs/IPs the rights, protections and privileges enjoyed by the rest of
the citizenry. It shall extend to them the same employment rights, opportunities, basic services,
educational and other rights and privileges available to every member of the society.” Thus,
regardless of our differences in culture, we are all bound to respect one another and stand in equal
footing so as the unity among us will flourish.
Therefore, charity and others that follow start from respect to one’s culture to respect to other
countries.
