MUSCLE OF FOREARM
SUPERFICIAL MUSCLE;
1. PRONATOR TERES :
It comprises big Humeral head and small Ulnar head
Origin ;
Medial epicondyle of humures &
Medial margin of coronoid process.
Insertion :
Shaft of Radius (medially 1/3rd of lateral )
3. PALMARIS LONGUS :
It is also known as vestigial muscle.
Origin : Medial epicondyle of Humerus
Insertion : Flexor retinaculum & Palmer aponeurosis.
Insertion :
Pisiform bone; base of 5th metacarpal bone.
DEEP MUSCLE
1. FLEXOR DIGITORUM PROFUNDUS :
It is composite or hybrid muscle
Most powerful and most bulky muscle.
Origin :
UPPER 3/4TH OF ANTERIOR – Medail surface shaft of Ulna
UPPER 3/4TH OF POSTERIOR – Border of Ulna
Medial surface of olecranon and coronoid process of Ulna.
Adjoining part of anterior surface of interosseous membrane.
Insertion :
It form the 4 tendon – for medial 4 digits which enter into the palm in deep.
Opposite the proximal phalanx, the tendon perforates the tendon of digitorum
superficialis.
Each tendon is inserted on the palmer surface of base of distal phalanx.
Superficially fibre into lower 1/4th of anterior surface and the anterior border
of the radius.
Deep fibre – triangular area above ulnar notch.
