MUSCLE OF FOREARM

 Forearm is divided into Anterior and Posterior aspect.

 The muscle of forearm is divided into superficial and deep.
 The front of forearm present Eight muscle.
 5 Superficially muscle,
 3 Deep muscle.

SUPERFICIAL MUSCLE;
1. PRONATOR TERES :
It comprises big Humeral head and small Ulnar head
Origin ;
 Medial epicondyle of humures &
 Medial margin of coronoid process.
Insertion :
 Shaft of Radius (medially 1/3rd of lateral )

2. FLEXOR CARPI RADIALIS :

It is easily seen and is a guide to radial pulse.
Origin : Medial epicondyle of humerus.
Insertion : Base of 2nd and 3rd Metacarpal bone.

3. PALMARIS LONGUS :
It is also known as vestigial muscle.
Origin : Medial epicondyle of Humerus
Insertion : Flexor retinaculum & Palmer aponeurosis.

4. FLEXOR DIGITORUM SUPERFICIALIS :

It consist of Humero-Ulnar Head.
Origin :
 Medial epicondyle of Humerus
 Medial border of coronoid process
 Radial head- Anterior oblique line of shaft of radius.
Insertion :
 Muscle divide in four tendons
 Each on side of middle phalanx 2nd to 5th digit.
5. FLEXOR CARPI ULNARIS :
Humeral head origin – Medial epicondyle of humerus
Ulnar head origin – Medial aspect of Olecranon process and posterior border of ulna.

Insertion :
 Pisiform bone; base of 5th metacarpal bone.

DEEP MUSCLE
1. FLEXOR DIGITORUM PROFUNDUS :
It is composite or hybrid muscle
Most powerful and most bulky muscle.

Origin :
 UPPER 3/4TH OF ANTERIOR – Medail surface shaft of Ulna
 UPPER 3/4TH OF POSTERIOR – Border of Ulna
 Medial surface of olecranon and coronoid process of Ulna.
 Adjoining part of anterior surface of interosseous membrane.
Insertion :

 It form the 4 tendon – for medial 4 digits which enter into the palm in deep.
 Opposite the proximal phalanx, the tendon perforates the tendon of digitorum
superficialis.
 Each tendon is inserted on the palmer surface of base of distal phalanx.

2. FLEXOR POLLICIS LONGUS :

Origin :
 Upper 3/4th of anterior surface of radius.
 Interosseous membrane – anterior surface
Insertion :

 Tendon enter in palm by passing deep.

 Inserted into palmer surface of distal phalanx of thumb.
3. PRONATOR QUADRATUS :
Origin :
 In lower 1/4th of shaft of ulna.
Insertion :

 Superficially fibre into lower 1/4th of anterior surface and the anterior border
of the radius.
 Deep fibre – triangular area above ulnar notch.
